Default Highland Park Honda in IL...A Few Questions About Them

Sorry if this is going a bit off topic here, but I know a lot of Chicago guys own ITR's and I wanted to get some feedback from them.

If you live in Chicago, you probably know of Highland Park Honda in Highland Park. According to ad's I see placed by them in Autotrader, they have 3 ITR's for sale, including this one:

http://www.autotrader.com/find...st=32

They use to have a picture of it but I don't know why they don't anymore. From the picture, the R looked pretty clean. The price seems reasonable I would think. However, I also heard that this R was previously in an accident and wasn't put back together all that great.

My question is that is there anyone near Highland Park Honda that could tell me what the condition of their 98 ITR is? I've been looking for a new car and the ITR was definitely an option on the list, and I would love to get a hold of it. If anyone could tell me anything about it, it would be greatly appreciated.

I do remember hearing it was in an accident and looked pretty bad. I think even Chris N from this board checked it out himself. I know a few owners from thee board personally went to go see and said it wasnt worth what they were asking. BTW, they have had that thing ffor the majority of the summer I think and haven't been able to sell it. That oughta tell you something

Lol, a hybrid would be nice, but I need reliability for 100+ miles of driving every day, and the R has always shared a special place in my heart with the 300ZX.

I noticed that the R has been up for sale all summer, and I know those things move when one is for sale, which is suspicious. If you look at their website, their prices they ask are outrageous. They have a 00 ITR with 20k miles, and asking $24k for it, which is a little outrageous.

Any chance I could talk them down, to say about $12k if it isn't in good shape?

I doubt they'll go down. I've noticed dealers around here ask outrages amounts of money for their cars also. I would personally keep looking. and who said hybrids weren't reliable? hey i got type r cams, does that count?

hmm, maybe the picture they used wasn't the actual car. You better get the extent of how bad the damage was before you try and even thinking about working it down.. If its anything frame, I don't know if I'd try, especially as others said there are others available.

Well, I think the thing was they were telling customers the car had never been in an accident, which obvisouly was not true

Both R's at highland park honda are junk. They looked awful. Dave/splitime saw them too, and someone else... I can't remember who right now.

They both had obviously been in an accident, are advertised as stock and are not, and were not put back together by anyone remotely competent.

There are plenty of good Honda/Acura dealers in the area, but that is NOT one of them. They don't really appear to be a full-service honda dealer, and they sell more non-hondas than hondas. I don't know what their deal is.

One of the R's there was slammed so low that the front tires had about 4+ degrees of camber and were totally tucked into the front fenders. One R had Michelin XGT4's or whatever they are called (the super crappy '99-'00 Cibic Si OEM tires), the other had severely worn RE-010's. Burnt rear bumper from a mis-aligned Apex N1 exhaust (since removed) and tons more.

I would stay very far away from Highland Park Honda.

Hahah, its funny this was brought up. A friend of mine that running " 19psi " on his Jetta 1.8T went to check out the R up there. They watched some guy back into the car hard and watched the guy drive away. They were not serviced at all, no one gave any assistance and some of the salesmen watched as the guy drove off after smashing into the R. Bad service, Bad R to pick.
