Lets say I like going 115 on the highway? will my carbon fiber hood really fly open? Has anyone drove around with out hood pins? Are there other ways of securing the hood? I just hate the hood pins cause my car is yellow , they just wont look good.
Its not that the hood will fly up its that the carbon fiber is so leight weight and thin that the side portion will flap up and down at high speeds....could even possibly crack the hood

Who cares what they look like. They do the job.

you dont need to get hood pins just go to acura and get that rubber thing that goes on the front of the hood and put that on there then no air can get underneath the hood and rip it off
Yep, make sure you transfer the rubber lining from your OEM hood to the CF hood.
And depending on what brand/weight of hood you have, you probably dont need them. VIS hoods dont require pins.

Well in my opinion (though I've learned that it's a waste of time to try to convince others of this), every CF hood needs hoodpins, regardless of brand, style, or whether or not the rubber strip is attached. I always find it interesting how people who put an unpainted CF hood on their car (which, despite the current trends and what certain Pep Boys commercials would like us to believe, was not originally intended to be a cosmetic mod or to "look-good"), but then state that they don't want to run hood pins because they don't look good.
Just hearing one story (although there are a number of them) about a hood breaking and the hood flying up, regardless of what brands are involved, should be enough incentive to install pins. The construction of CF hoods is such that there is little that a manufacturer can do to ensure that the latch and frame will not seperate from the hood at some point in time.
Does every hood break? Obviously not. Not everyone running Toda B's has snapped a stock timing belt either, but that doesn't mean that I'd run a stock belt with them.

well i agree with padawan, that it is a good safety precaution, but from personal experience ive hit speeds well over 120 with my VIS hood, and it didnt flex the least, i dont have hood pins either.
its your choice, and alot depends on brand too,
