Default How often should oil be changed in turbo engines??

I was just wanting opinions on how often because I mainly will be on the highway and at the strip once a month. I will be using Royal Purple 10-40 and changing the filter every 3000 and the oil every 6000.

I shitcan full synthetic every 1500 miles. If I had a water cooled turbo I suspect it would last until 2000. Feel the oil when it's clean, and notice how it slowly becomes less and less slippery.

And the whole halfcocked theory that you can change filter more often than oil needs to be shelved once and for all. There is a lot of microscopic particulate, as well as water + acids formed by combustion reactions, that an oil filter cannot remove but changing your oil can. I don't care how much teflon DuPont jizzed into each quart, or whatever dishonest claim to BeStEsT OiL EvAr!!11 info you've been reading, oil is disposable and dies quickly. Change it often.

Every 3300 miles, along with a new filter. As long as your motor is in good condition, and you let the car warm up and cool down properly, that should be fine.

120k mils on mine.. full syntech every 6-7k miles after turbo every 5-6k i use higher capacity filters and what ever teh top brand is.. for some reason fram has a bad rep but i have used fram's filters since day one. And im the original owner of my civic.

dyno oil do get changed every 3k if u run hard on them even often.. but syntechs are much much more dorable, breaks at a lower rate, is much resistan towards acidity and absorbing humidity.. but if you feel confortable changifn often much better for oil companies... here in teh US have been brain washed about frequent oil changes.. syntec oils are ok for 10k but dont listen to me, my family and i do belive in extended oil change.. by the way we r from europe were the mayority of people do the same thing...

cheers... .02

to push the limits of your oil, go 3,000 miles of the oil of your choice, then have have a oil analysis performed.

oil analysis is a good idea.. too bad its pricey, i think only truckers do it cuz it can save them lots of $ in the long rung

I would say it depend on your tunning. Like my injectors are too big and saturate at idle, I know its ******* my oil so until I change them I change very often.

the oil gets past the rings in to the oil, like washing the cyclinders.

I've got a 98 hatch with a ls/turbo. My engine management is haltech running stock injectors with two secondary 440 denso's. As for fuel, I've got the stock pump with a msd external pump. Stock rail, regulator and filter. I'm only pushin 9 psi through a garrett T3/T04 right now. I'll mainly be on the highway.
