yes it does exist, but it was never OEM in this country

an h22a head would fit with similiar modifications required to make an h23 mate to an h22a head

Thanx for the 411. So this would be a hard motor to get? Is it JDM? So im figuring that the h23 is the only other alternative then.

i know a couple of people with them as well. One person i know has a prelude shipped here from Japan and that was the motor that was in it. As stated, it is hard to find parts for it and many engine distributors do not carry it because it is not that high in demand here in the states.

What?? The H23 header fits the JDM F22b.

In fact, most H23 aftermarket parts fit the F22b.

Most of the h23a parts will fit the JDM F22b motor.

I have an f22b still on an engine stand in my neighbors house. It was shipped here like well over a year ago from Japan. Can't wait to put it in the car. (4th gen) What upgrades would you recommend before I put it in. Its needs to be reliable and all motor. Thanks

i have the f22b in my 92 prelude, almost all parts from the h23 will fit cuz there the same exact motor except the h23 is a 2.3 liter and the f22b is a 2.2 liter, so basically the bore is different.

might have to go with some kind of custom gasket:

The f22b was the jdm direct replacment for the h23

not sure what you paid but we sold a few:
i havent seen any in a while but from what i know, they were nice motors to put in the h23 instead of goign vtec

not a bad choice if you get them pretty cheap

you're thinking of the F22a or f22b 1,2,4 etc etc that was SOHC and in 90-97 accords

An F22B DOHC is an H23 with 85mm steel bore, aka no FRM. FRM is the reason the H series exists...the 87mm bore was only achieved with FRM.

Anyways...for head gasket I would be ordering one from Japan or using an F series 85mm gasket...try an F22a/F22B one for starters maybe..

the DOHC was in the JDM Prelude Si, guess the USDM version needed more displacement...no clue why JApan only got the F22B DOHC

it's just an h23 with smaller bore ....don't know why, but most of the parts are the same as either the USDM f22a or the h23.....it has the same stroke and a 2mm smaller bore and higher compression...i've only seen it as 10:1 compression though....there are so many unknown variations of most nonUSDM motors that it's hard to tell.....but only seen obd1
