Default Custom Guage Locations.....

Hi, I have 96 cx and was wondering how I can move my headunit from the upper slot to the one down infront of the shifter. I am planning on putting a DIN plate with cutous for my guages in the factory location. Also I was wondering if anyone has ever mounted an V-AFC on the ceiling between the visors, where the map lights would normally go. Also if anyone has any pictures of their mounting locations, I would like to see them as well.

Thanks in advance James

i have a 95 civic but did exactly what you are talking about, also this has been covered many times so if you search you can find some nice threads about trick gauge and vafc installs, i have my vafc installed in the roof but am working on a hideaway motorized unit right now. here are my gauges in the oem radio spot with a trick oem honda radio block off plate to hide them when needed,

Where did you get that block off plate from? I will try and do that when I install my audio console...

Thanks again guys. When you install the headunit in the slot down below, how do you pop out the tray that is in there, and do the wires reach? Thanks again keep the posts coming

I had mine installed my someone who knew what they were doing. I do know he had to use a new wire harnest but that's about it. The old tape player/cdplayer should just pop out and unplug. Here's a pic of mine:
*edit* My interior plastic is not that bluish color, but a dark gray. Imagestation screws up the color on pics

to move the radio you can either extend the wires or buy 2 harnesses and plug them together for an extension
here is the link for the radio block off plate, its part number 13 on the list. its kinda hard to read. to cover the gauges you wll need to cut off the back of the block off plate to make it flat, there is alot of clips on the back that needed to be cut off, then put some magents in the corners above the gauges and then glue some washers on the back of the block off plate.
