Yes! but how did you get the brake code to by pass your immob. unit. The dealership should note be giving this info. to owner. This is just ment for dealership technician use. However, I can not help with this; for as a dealer tech, I can not give you this info.

I'd like to hear more about this brake code thing, not familiar with it, I do know that you can disable this by desoldering some stuff from the ecu.

Yes it is an anti-theft measure, but also, it's a legitimate problem with doing swaps, and you know exactly how helpful the dealership is with swap questions.

The next group of vehicles will not give you a permanent transponder key. By following the directions, yes, you can start the car up and drive it for as long as you want to. As you read the directions you will understand why this isn’t permanent. First, here is a list of the seven models and the year they started to have transponders:


Acura 3.5 RL started in 1997


Acura CL & TL started in 1999


Acura NSX started in 1997


Honda Accord started in 1997


Honda Insight started in 2000


Honda Odyssey started in 1998


Honda Prelude started in 1997


Now the procedure to do them:


The procedure is known as the "Brake Code." The "brake code" is always a five digit number. First, I will give you the formula and then the "special conditions" that go with it:


1. Cut the key code into an ordinary HD-103 keyblank.


2. Turn the ignition switch on.


3. Enter the first digit of the five digit code by pressing and releasing the brake pedal the same number of times as the digit. (For example, if the first digit is five, press and release the pedal five times.)


4. Turn the ignition switch to lock and then back on. NOTE: From the time you turn the switch on, put the code in, and shut it off, you MUST do it all in less than 20 seconds.(20 seconds is a long time)


5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to enter the second, third, fourth and fifth digits of the code.


6. After you enter the fifth digit, the immobilizer indicator on the dash will blink five (5) times meaning you can now start the car with the temporary key. While the engine is running, the immobilizer indicator will stay on. You have up to ten minutes to start the car. You can shut it off and it will restart as long as it is less than ten minutes in the off position. If you have it off more than ten minutes, you must re-enter the entire brake code. This code can be entered into the vehicle and started a maximum of ten times. After that, the computer will not allow the code to work.


Every vehicle on the Acura and Honda list, whoever you get codes from, pertaining to this list, is given two codes for every vehicle. The first is, of course, the key code and along with that, together, is the Brake Code.

Wrong!!! Check your September 1999 service news and you'll see that part of the reason for the brake code is to get a customer who has lost one of their keys home.
