Default 15x6.5 vs 15x7 ??

I am getting a set of wheels, these will be my road racing wheels. What are the advantage, and disadvantage of using 15x 7 over 15x 6.5 I will be using a 205/50-15 tire, NOT going to a 225, on the 15x7's I will be using a 43mm offset, is this OK? If not what should I use? oh, and the wheels are 15'' TE37's

thanks, Bryan

Might as well use the spiffy wheels for the street and use your stockers on the track. You'll probably never notice that little a weight difference.

I say get the 15x7 if it fits. It'll keep the sidewall from bowing as much, which generally means a better contact patch.

I told you to save the money and get Kosei K1s for the track, can't beat the price you are getting, and 7.5 wide won't rub, trust me!

The minimal difference between the 6.5" and 7" width is not signifigant, especially if you are running 205's. The 6.5 might look just a little better, but the 7" will provide a better track feel. On the other hand, the 6.5 will probably be just a little bit lighter...

Thanks for the info, just out of curiosity why would the 6.5 look better? I ordered the 15x7's thanks :~)

the 6.5" might look better because it will slightly "pucker" the sidewall of the tires, making the tires look big on the rims. The edge of the 7" will be flush with the sidewall of the tires. Some people like the "pucker" look.

I have the 15x7 K1's on my HB. You might want to test fit the rears on the ground before you road test. I had to shave about .5mm off the rear upper control arm for the inner rim lip to clear.

On a type R, a 15x7 43mm offset will fit just fine--no rubing at all unless you throw some huge tires on there.

You can check my website..(www.ff-formula.com) I had 15x6.5 on my TE-37s untill they got jacked there's a couple of pics of them... unfortunatly I never had the time to get to use these on the track so couldn't really give you an opinion on the size... however, on the next set of wheels I'm getting, they'll be 15x7 cuz I want to get wider profile...
