new rings will only help if you bore/ hone the cylinder walls because the rings will seat them selfs into the cylinder walls for the best seal

Well what are your goals? What kinda compression are you looking for? What cams are you running/going to run? What mods are done now? What do you have for tuning?, etc.... Sure I could tell you to get CTR pistons or something along the lines of that but on a stock motor w/ an intake and no tuning capabilities it's going to be a waste of money.

So wait is this an LS motor in an LS hatch or a civic hatch. I mean hell you could get mid-high 14's in a civic hatch by just dropping the motor in. Is this an Integra LS?

haha..you mean guy!
yeah i agree, can you give us more info please...?
i figure you have a FULL LS (no VTEC ) from the links in you sig but you havent actually told us that you do have an LS motor..?
..but just off of speculation that you do..imma gonna give you some food for thought?
Now, ive heard that the LS head is like the PR3 head (hence PR4). But it has bigger chambers then any VTEC head (P72 or PR3). Since all B-Series Motors have the the same bore (except the B20)..the only way the PR4 can have bigger chambers is to have more clearance up top! which means more room for pistons and valves. Plus, the LS cams dont lift any higher then any VTEC lobes (stock)..and the VTEC valves are bigger then LS valves (33mm instead of 31mm) so there shouldnt be a problem there... so what do you think..?

Now about the pistons..if your piston is in good shape, then you can reuse them if you still wanna use your LS pistons. You'd have to hone the walls for the new rings but this would make your pistons to wall clearance bigger and thats not cool.. or i heard you can Dry Film Coat the pistons side skirts and this will take up some space for better piston to wall clearance. Or you buy new VTEC pistons and do the same procedure.. or buy Over bore OEM pistons and bore and hone to spec...your choice!

HTH, now can anyone try to help me out...?

PR3 = B16/ITR/CTR Head Casting.
P72 = GSR
PR4 = LS
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by wm5holla &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">what is the pistons to wall clearance being a lil bigger NOT cool? people on ht have told that ctr.itr have to high of adome to for a ls motor.. how i do find out the truth with out claying my motor?</TD></TR></TABLE>
The more Piston to Wall clearance you have, the more blow-by is increased. Theres a certain amount that your suppose/allowed to have. Spec.
Ive heard of people using ITR pistons in a LS motor but im not too sure about CTR pistons.. Claying would give you the definite answer.
JDM B16 P30 Pistons will give you 11:1 CR with OEM head gasket
JDM ITR Pistons: 10.8 CR OEM gasket
CTR Pistons: ~ 11.4 CR OEM gasket

if you want 11:1 then put in p30 pistons in. you can get them from hondaautomotivaparts.com (majestic) for pretty cheap. you might wanna get overbore if they are goin in a b18a.
