Tomorrow I will be going to the garage where my car is kept so that I can do a bit more work on removing the existing B16A so that the car will be ready for painting soon.
I have removed the tranny from my itr motor (the motor that will eventually be put back into the car) and was going to put the motor onto my engine stand. Can any of you think of any reason why I should not leave my itr motor on my engine stand for a long period of time, for instance a couple of months because progress on my car is kind of slow at the moment. I presume that there is no way that I could cause any unnecessary stress on the motor by doing this. Also the tranny bolts that I removed are too short to hold the motor to the stand. I was thinking about buying longer bolts from the local home depot style store to keep the motor in place. Is this advisable?
Apologies in advance if it seems that I am asking pretty stupid questions, I just want to cover myself so that I do not make any mistakes.
Thanks in advance
Mark

Yes that sounds good, I bought a big threaded rod and cut it down to length. But don't forget that the one hole on the engine goes right threw so you will need 2 nuts for that bolt. Thats only if your gonna by the long threaded rod and cut it down to size.

You can leave the motor on the stand for as long as you want. The longer bolts from Home Depot will be fine, just make sure you are getting the correct tread pitch, unless you are talking about the bolts that go throught the tranny holes, then you would use a nut on the end of the bolt.

did you get the metric sized threaded rod? if so where did you get it from???
fyi, i use the front x-member bolts on my engine stand. i haven't had a motor on it for a long period of time (i think the motor was on there for only a week), but they seem to work fine and they are longer than the tranny bolts.

I got it from home depot. They have numerous rods there. The one I bought fits perfect.

As long as you are asking for advice...
Be especially careful if the engine stand in question is the type that only has three wheels as they can be prone to turn over when rotating the position of the engine or when rolling across uneven surfaces on the floor.
guess how I know..
