the JRSC for the ITR doesnt make any power. Most people i know with em have a hard time making 200whp. My car made 240whp baseline run and after a little tuning of the fuel curve i was putting down 290whp on 8psi. "safely"

how long have you had your car for? if you just got it, wait a little while before making huge mods, and learn how to drive it.

Whats your goal with the car? Road Race, Drag Race, Street Fun ... then decide what you should do to the car.

First explore the different arenas of motorsport before you do any modifications to your car. Explore track events, autocross, drag racing, etc. I love to autocross and the only mods needed for autocross is brake pads, shocks, harness, exhaust, and air filter. The car is perfect for autocross. If you want to do track events, then spend money on a roll cage, harness, then after learning car go for full coilovers, etc. etc. If you are into drag racing, then go for the big power stuff. Honestly, a GSR is better for drag racing, but a Type R can be made into a drag car (I think someone on this board just did some great times at a recent event). But you are way too new to the car to be thinking of modifications. Owning a Type R is different than most other cars. So, plan your mods tastefully and intelligently.

If you want to be unbeatable on the street, you bought the wrong car. ITR is just ok for straight-line speed, where it really shines is on a course with some turns. I have lost to many a slower car because my driving skills still need work. I would advise you to improve your skills first. But if you really want to beat TT Supras on the street, why don't you just have your Dad buy you a new M3? then you can sell the ITR to someone who won't waste it as a street racer

Everyone I know with a turbo Honda has blown it up. Unless you build the motor I would stay away from a turbo, but with a built engine you'll be stupid fast.

JRSC's are a bitch to tune right. To get to the advertised power output you have to spend at least another grand if not two. Don't be suprised if the first time you dyno you're making less power than stock. A VAFC and some tuning and you'll be close to 200, some more parts and tuning should get you to ~220.

Depending on how high up you are 14.7 isn't bad at all. Here at a mile high, a 14.7 will put you door to door with a C5 Vette.

So go get one of those cars...a BMW will impress your homies a lot more than an ITR and you won't have to spend as much money modifying it. Clearly your prime objective is to impress your friends so why buy an Integra?

It wasn't any faster at all when I first put the kit on. Ok maybe a few tenths, but that's it. Seriously.

After tuning I'm running 15.0 at a mile above sea level. That's faster than an LT1 Camaro, and about equal to a 2000+ Mustang Cobra. Still about three tenths off a tt Supra. It took some work, and many times I thought of taking off the kit, but I'm really liking it now.

I think it's the safest way to go for real power. Like I said, Everyone I know with a turbo has gone boom. Lately I've seen a lot of the all motor ITRs do the very same thing. To make good power on a N/A R you have to run a hot cam and rev to infinity (or close enough). I know some all motor guy is going to flame me for this, but I don't consider that way to be reliable at all. One ITR owner over at ClubSi has had THREE JUN engines grenade on him. I see about one a month on this page too. Despite all the problems making power, and part throttle detonation issues, I've never seen anyone post about a blown engine with a JRSC on stock boost levels (on any website and I frequent four or five different ones). That's not saying it never happens, I've just never seen it.

To answer your question, a turbo, supercharger, or any similar engine modification can damage the engine if it is not tuned properly. Also, the engine is not original designed for such modification so long term durability may be an issue. There are people who daily drive a JRSC ITR, but this car is definitely tuned properly.

try going to the search page and typing in some of your questions, all of which have been asked before. As for BMWs being too heavy for a track...put an M3 up against an ITR on a track and see how well your R does, 200whp or no...

Moderators,
Can we lock this thread. I think ITR-1030 has gotten his answer and he can do a little more research throughout this website and others. It was originally a decent question that is about to go to "thread hell" with responses.

I'm gonna start a poll - "who thinks ITR3030 should sell his R and buy a Supra TT?"
