Default 2 Pics! Secondary butterfies / IAB! Which one is open? Which one is closed?

My secondaries are not opening at 6k like they should be if everything was wired correctly. I was told that when the secondaries open the rod on this diaphram will go down.

Just went out and took a look and with the motor off the rod is DOWN:

When I rotate the clip around the rod moves up toward the hood / shortening the rod:

When the secondaries kick in at 6k should the rod be down like in the top pic or up as in the second pic?

98 GSR (usdm)
OBD1 p72 ECU

Thanks!

I believe you were misinformed.

ROD DOWN = closed 2ndaries
ROD UP = opened 2ndaries

O.K. the diaphram gets vaccum at idle, the diaphram raises the rod. The secondaries are closed for high torque at low rpms. Around 6k the diaphram loses vaccum from your wired selinoid, therefore droppin the rod to open the secondaries for maximum horsepower at high rpms. I've personally taken one apart an the secondaries were open. When i pressed the rod up in the diaphram, they closed.

bottom pic should be at idle (lever is up) ... at 5750rpm it comes down ... the black box connects to a17
