Default Comptech Race Header/Exhaust

Hello,

I just installed the Comptech race header and race exhaust on Sat. I am not planning on running the race exhaust on the street. Does anyone know what other exhaust's will bolt right up to the Comptech header? Also, how do I eliminate the second O2 sensor after the cat. so it doesn't throw an error code?

First Impressions: This setup is very hardcore. If you dont already know the race exhaust is about four feet long and is a turn down exhaust that ends under the vehicle. The built quality for the header and the exhaust are top notch, you cant find better quality. The sound is very very loud. At idle you can hear every exhaust gas pulse coming out of the engine, kinda sounds like an old muscle car with a thumping exhaust. When you get on the throttle the car simply screems, below vtec it is more of a low rumble(reverberates throughout the entire vehicle), above vtec-the exhaust sound changes from low rumble to banshee screem. The power is simply amazing, when i get on the throttle i get that funny feeling that your butt is being pushed in the back of the seat and I find myself coming up on redline very fast. I would totally recomend this header to anyone who wants top notch quality and power. I feel the exhaust is to hardcore for the street, you can get away with the sound but I would probably go nuts after a week of driving on the street. I can take some pics, but can someone host them?

Thanks for the help.

Without the "adapter" (i.e. short Test pipe) you will not be able to bolt any standard exhaust system onto the Race header. I have the header with the adapter and the Comptech street exhaust and it bolts together very well.

Now I say that I I recall the Fujisubo being about 4" t00 long for a stock header cat combo so it might fit but if I recall correctly what you will run into is that it is still too short and that you will have to modify the B-pipe or the adapter.

Basically you need an adapter and a standard sized exhaust.

The header is killer and even the street exhaust is nice with it. THe race exhaust sounds a little too crazy for me.

I got the adapter from Comptech directly. I don't know the part # but I am sure if you ask for the adapter for the Bseries Race Header they will know exactly what you are talking about. Talk to Nate or Joe.

What did you do about the O2 sensors? The primary sensor is to short and the secondary sensor is not used anymore? Did you just lengthen the primary sensor by cutting the wires and adding more length? What did you do about the second sensor?

I did indeed cut my wires and solder in exstensions. That said I am told there is an OEM extension harness for O2 sensors that comes off a Civic EX of some year. This is what is recommended.

The Adapter has a bung for a second O2. I happen to run a wideband O2 in it since I run either a power FC or hondata which neither need the secondary O2 sensor.

I just realized when you asked what I did you meant to eliminate the CEL or need for a secondary O2. Considering the radicalness of this header and the modifications you seem to be doing I have to suggest a good Fuel management system. Hondata would be my first suggestion and this will eleiminate the need for the secondary O2. The CEL doesn't hurt your performance.

You can also try wrapping the Sensor in aluminum foil or wiring a resistor inline to trick the ECU.

You get the adapter from Comptech or an authorized dealer.

Here are some pics of the header and exhaust installed on the car. This is my first time posting pics so bare with me if this doesn't work.

That exhaust is sexy.

I am sure that sounds awesome.

JN who toyed with the idea of an exhaust like that for a long time...but wants to avoid "the man" at all costs.

Why do you not have your Primary O2 sensor connected?!?

I wanted to take pics before the sun went down. So I took the pics before I hooked up the O2 sensor. I had to extend the length of the sensor about 6 inches.

Just checking. I have the same header so I knew you had to extend it but wasn't sure why you had it in but bot plugged up.

The exhaust is pretty loud, I would say it sounds like a motorcycle with an exhaust. In fact I was driving next to a brand new R1 and I was in vtec, the R1 had an aftermarket exhaust. The sounds were so a like they seemed to cancel each other out and it was quiet driving next to the bike.

Below vtec the exhaust tone is a deep low rumble, it is bearable though......lots of power

this ought to take care of the CEL from the 2nd o2 sensor. as for me, i'm going to run Hondata with the Comptech Race Header, use 2 3" ID Moroso Spiral race mufflers welded into sections of KTeller8's 3" madrel bent exhaust, with a stealth cone welded into the end of the tail pipe. it shouldn't be too restrictive, and if i'm lucky, it won't be too loud (i commute 40 miles to/from work daily). (we don't have smog tests in MI, since the previous law was that only autos newer than 10 years had to pass a sniffer test, most cars in the metro areas were older than 10 years, and GMs 2 year old cars were failing; needlessly to say, their lobby power in MoTown is pretty much absolute, so no more MI smog tests.)
