I know this might have been discussed but I am in the Gulf right now and I don't have a lot of time on the net. I will be running a tricked out B16 (I know) but I need a tranny. Is a regular B16 tranny good? Is there anything better for time, reliability etc? Thanks.

Agreed!
I've got a JDM YS1 with LSD and I love it. If you could, a '92-'92 USDM YS1 would be the best, since you can actually buy parts for it here in the states. But good luck finding one.

I love my YS1 with LSD. I would give your engine supplier a list of choices in this order if you are planning on running NA:
YS1 w/lsd Great close ratio trans, ratios match early Hype R boxes
S1 w/LSD Also good ratios, just a little off the YS1, no factory LSD option
J1 w/LSD same as the S1 supposedly
Y1 w/LSD LSD a factory option, even shorter gears, but shorter final than above
so longer overall gearing than above.
The middle two weren't sold with LSD's, can't remember off hand, so if you get one of them with LSD, you'll have an aftermarket LSD most often. Someone I know got a free Quaiffe that way!
I wouldn't get a trans without LSD unless I planned to install one in the the VERY immediate future. The differnce in incredible, can't recomend one enough.
