Default FYI: Exedy clutches in higher hp applications

I am just posting this as an informational thread showing my experience with this product. I am not bashing Exedy. It was a good clutch while it lasted. It had good pedal feel and clamping power. However, I would only recommend them in OEM applications. My motor is not outrageously powerful and I thought that I could have got by with the Exedy because I was under the impression that they could withstand 300hp. My Exedy (w/ organic disc) had a hard time with upper 100's. I put 19k miles on it and did not have any problems until Tuesday. I was not hard on it, infact I got made fun of because I was so easy with the car. It saw about 10 total runs at the drag strip. Here is what it looks like now...

exedy makes a good clutch but I would not recomend it for drag racing. Always been amazed how good they do feel though. Sorry it did not last longer. Action 1 md here.

Why not just get an ACT clutch for high hp cars? They are good clutches that put more power to the ground and are IMO reliable? I have heard many bad things from exedy when you start making more power. I have a jdm B18C motor in my hatch and am currently using the type R oem clutch . Just have Skunk2 im, short ram intake, apex-i ws exhaust and it works great on my mild app. However I have heard that the R oem clutches can withstand up to 300 hp.

I guess its a matter of choice.
My r clutch kit: 300 shipped
Act hdss: 375 shipped

the disc you show is just a stock style disc and was not meant for racing and not going to hold under those conditions.

you would need something liek this type of Disc. from ACTION clutch

or the 1KS kit which is the kevlar disc.
