How far can i bore a built H23 to?
My engine blew the hg about 2 weeks ago. Upon tear down we discovered many signs of incompetence from the original builder. I will go further on that once we get everything settled and some pics.
My question right now is, it looks like a re-hone will not cut it with the clearence issues. Looks like i will have to re-bore it. I has a h23 with GE sleeves with stock bore. How far can i bore it to untill i would have to worry about wall thinknesses? Is 2.5l h23 asking too much?

IMO, I would go no bigger than 89mm if this is a street car. Any bigger can result in cylinder distortion due to thinner walls, and head gasket sealing issues.
Yea im still trying ot keep this car streetable. I dont want the chance of getting the walls too thin. Also liek to leav sumthin there for the future....in case shiit happens, again.
What displacement does a 89mm bore make it?

2.3xxx i think, i dont know, i never actually calculated the displacement, i didn't really plan on going to 89mm but they were the only pistons i could find on short notice, plus i got a deal on them
Hmm. I think i might just bore it as little as ill need to. Seems liek the power increase is negligible...nuthin a little more boost wont handle. And id like to have sumthin there for the future.

honestly i wouldnt go all the way to a 89mm in case you run into problems down the road. Go about 40 over (88mm) that way if you f your walls up later you can move up to a 50 over piston and so on and so on. Be on the safe side.
