Default Air Conditioner controls problem, "1" doesn't do anything

Ya'll know that there are four settings for the air conditioning/heating: 1, 2, 3, and 4. My ac/heater unit only turns on at 2! If i set it to 1, nothing happens. Would could be the problem with this?

Otherwise, everything else seems fine.

A friend of mine had this problem and it was his blower motor. He got one from the junkyard for $5.

I have the same problem also. My theory is that since the heater controls are cable controlled that I think overtime the cable gets stretched out so much that when you set it to 1 its not tight enough to move the heater thing open more.

Mine did that and it was the blower motor resistor

the fan control is not cable driven tho. and yes you need a new blower motor to fix it.

It sounds like it's the resistor pack that controls the fan speed, I've replaced it on all the honda's I've owned, 'cept for my GSR so that makes a total of four that I've replaced.....it's a cheap part and easy to replace, go to the dealer and ask for the fan resistor for the heater motor.

Yep thats what causes it. If the fan speed doesnt work on a specific number that is what controls it. Its on top of the blower motor housing held in by 2 philips head screws pull both of those out unhook the harness going into it pull it out and replace with a new one oh and its black and rectangular and you wont see much of it since it goes into the blower motor housing about the only thing you will see is the screws and the wire connector. Its about $30 from the Honda dealer well for my CRX atleast I replaced 2 of them and that has been the problem with both.
