Oil Cooler.. needed for a daily driver?
As topic states..
How may people are running a oil cooler on their daily driver.
If so what brand are you running.
I was looking at the Greddy offered one but @ $500 is there a less expensive option.

I'm running an HKS Oil Cooler from an Evo which I had fitted to my teg. Helps a bit, especially when i'm doing high-speed runs (200+km/h) - helped much more when I was turbocharged though (obviously)
FYI - there is not really a "winter" here. Every day is 33-39°C in Thailand. Plus its humid.

I bought a perma-cool core for like $40. and a transt dapt relocator kit for $50. and a few $$$ for the lines and fittings.
the only thing was the Trans-dapt kit was a little screwy. the adapter didn't screw on right, the "tube" on the back of the motor was too long, it woudn't seat against the block. I had to buy a new one and have about 1/4 inch machined off the end. It was a real pain in the ***, so you might be better off with a different brand Trans-Dapt=
I would deffinitely put one on tho, especially if it is daily driven, it will save your oil life!!

The B&M is a stacked oil cooler like the Greddy. but the greddy comes with a thermostat. You can always buy a thermostat and run it inline...very simple. The B&M comes with rubber lines while the Greddy comes with steel braided lines, hence the price difference, but again you can probably switch those out later if you choose to go with the B&M unit. You probably will see a 10-20 degree difference. Most people will mount this behind the intercooler with some simple brackets....good luck!

anytime you lower the oil temp the oil will last longer without breaking down. for the money I would get it!!! however I have been boosted now for 70,000miles on a stock b16a and have no oil cooler. I live in TN and its hot as hell here!!!
My friend got a C&R radiator and a JR oil cooler on his 97 Greddy Turbo Prelude. He says his oil temp gauge reads about 35 degrees cooler. This is in the summer and in hot Texas weather. I just bought a JR oil cooler and I'm about to get a C&R, but I don't have an oil temp gauge like him.
