Default Hytech header owners

How much did you have to trim off of your engine stiffener to clear the header?

As an alternative, the shop that did my install used a plate from a GSR (I believe).

Did they only use the GSR flywheel cover or did they also use the two GSR "stiffeners" also?

I'm pretty sure it was just the flywheel cover. I didn't think it'd make too much of a difference since John @ HyTech said that the aluminum brace in question was only an addition on 2000 ITRs.

Interesting, I always thought ALL ITR's had this brace.

Look at the left-most primary, right next to the tranny.
I *Believe* that the clutch cover and stiffener are in that location and seem to have been removed/altered.

I'm sure a more clear answer is forthcoming from someone else.

They do. Crate C5 blocks from acura do not come with the ITR engine stiffner.

So to get the header to fit properly in a R, this modification must be done? I wonder why no one ever mentioned that before? I've always had the impression it was just a simple bolt on.

The Hytech is the only header to my knowledge that requires this modification.

.....fwiw, I ran for about a year without the stiffener.

Lip also ran without his and dragged a bunch that way.

Apparently, it keeps the flywheel cool not running a cover.

I finally got mine trimmed with a plasma cutter (no way to upload pics currently), and have some more peace of mind now.

But big phat is right, about 1" to 1/2" should do it.....

While you're at it, you may want to get a skidplate made for the header too.....

Reid...if I knew that you needed a pic, I would have taken some pics when I had it on a lift Saturday... We even had an extra stiffener that I could have drawn on to show you, bummer.
