Hey guys. How much oil do you burn? Can you go 3000 miles wihout having to add any oil after a day of autocrossing and some drag racing?

Some quick info: 1995 GSR Integra. I take it to 7k RPM maybe 4 times a day on average. I/H/E

 

From what I've read in the past, some ITR drivers have had to add some more oil because they were low. Personally, I've never had to add more oil as my oil lever is fine, but then I dont autocross...I do drive it pretty hard tho...but i think for 3,000 miles you really shouldn't have that big of a problem

I go through about 1.5 Quarts of 5W-30 Redline every 3000 miles.

I am going to try 10W30 next and see if I can tell a differance in consumption!

 

how hard are you guys on the R to burn oil? I dont track my car often not auto-x...mostly daily driving and i have had no oil burn problems..

 

Mobil 1 10W-30. No burning in both our 2000 and 2001, ever.

 

George What kind of oil do you use? I race ALOT. Friday, Saturday, Sunday I am racing either Drag or Autocross. I think alot has to do with what type of oil you use Standard or synthetic.

 

burned ~1 quart of mobil 1 5W30 this past weekend in less than four 20 minute sessions at nelson ledges.

I use Pennzoil 5W-30 and it never has burned. I've never had to put more oil in after I change it and I Auto X a lot on the car.

 

So far every honda I have owned burns about a quart every 4,000 miles. The R is no exception... I use whatever oil is at Sam's Warehouse club. so sometimes it's mobile, sometimes Castrol. I use 5w30 the old accord has 186,000 miles on it and the R will be there someday too! only Auto X'd the R once but it didn't seem to use any more oil. Plus I tend to drive the R a little harder than the Accord.

 

I burn lots of oil but onlly because my rings aren't sealing right. I let some stupid fool rebuild my block and charge me ALOT that is why. Want something done right you gotta do it yourself...

5w30 ii think is too thin...when ur driving for 30 minutes and actually start driving fast i burn my oil up like crazy....i have to wait til the engine cools down then add more oil....

 

I burn a quart about every 1000km. I hit vtec alot on the street. When I hit vtec, a puff of black smoke comes out of my exhaust. I hope the new I-Vtec engines are better designed so they don't burn oil. It pisses me the hell off.

 

black smoke means you're running rich bro. blue smoke means you're burning oil.

 

running rich.. heh... i got a ton o black smoke embeded in my rear bumper.... clay bar to the rescue this weekend...

I use Mobil 1 and I go through about a half quart between changes (28-3200 miles).
