Default B16a block with GSR head power????

Considering buying a swap, the guy says its a jdm B16a(SIR2) block with a gsr head(dunno if jdm or usdm). Would this produce less or more hp than a full b16a engine?

with a p72 head on a stock B16 block, that will yield a higher compression (I believe 10.4) than a PR3 head on a B16. So yes, it'll produce a little bit more power.

I'm to lazy to find the graph, but they average the same flow rate(gsr is like .00000003 better) What I was mainly wondering about was the compression. Which poison has stated to be higher(Thanks). Any more opinions?

Did you mean (b16 is like .0000003 better)? I remember seeing the flow charts and I remember the b16 head winning on both intake and exhaust side.

I remember seeing the flow charts and at different rpms both were better. Top end on the gsr was better, but when avereaged together, they were close... but gsr was barely ahead. Lets not get to off topic though =P

*Feel free to prove me wrong, I looked at it like 2 days ago but cant find the graph.

Ok well back to topic, the compression would be raised, what's the GSR head rev out to?

with the gsr head you are also getting the dual stage intake mani which is a plus

the b16/type r head doesnt have those secondaries i believe...

someone feel free to correct me

I'm kind of confused, dont people put b16 heads on b18 blocks to raise compression? So wouldnt that mean the GSR head would lower compression? Thanks for the info guys.

You make it sound like there's a world of a difference, when there's little at all that can even felt with the B16 head and GSR head. With the smaller cc's on the GSR head (minutely smaller), it'll yield approximately .21 more compression to the original B16 motor.

It'll "rev out" to whatever you take it too but it's safe to keep it under 8200 rpms on the stock valve springs, retainers and LMAs.

I think the airflow vary, because there are good eggs and bad eggs. The square style combustion chamber on GSR head will give you a higher compression ratio, thus giving more power throughout power band. I prefer a GSR head stock wise, and comes with better cams.

hmm....im putin a b16 head on my GSR block, so compression will be down .2? This means that displacement is slightly higher correct? ahh well, probably wont even feel the difference. THe butterflies on the GSR manifold are nice, but that manifold is so DAHM GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to put that pretty little b16 IM on the motor.
