the switch itself is in the back of the block near the oil filter... I've never heard of one going bad though. Its has 2 prongs and when the temp gets too high it will complete a curcit and the switch comes on. Your letting the car run/idle long enough for the fan to come on right?? I'm willing to be you may have some other electrical problems. 1st make sure the fan works....Run a ground and a pos wire then work your way back

yeah i'm letting the car get warmed up enough for the fan to come one but it doesn't we replaced the fan and made sure it works with a power and ground and it worked so we don't know what to thing and as i said the thremostat is nearly new and everything else is fine and is working

Coolant temperature switches can go bad. mine did. the easy way to test it is to turn your ignition to on (car not running) and pull both connectors from the CTS and put a jumper inbetween them. if your fan switches on then you KNOW that your fan, cooling fan relay, and cooling fan fuse are working and that your CTS has simply taken a dump on you.

There are also relays to turn on the fans, check those also.

if you do the CTS test i suggested above and the fan DOES turn on, then your relays are just fine. try it first.
