how-to: painting your interior

I'm sure this is a bit basic of a how-to, but i can't sleep and i'm good at doing this. I've done 5 cars, most compete in shows, it's pretty basic as far as what you need to do.
I will be addressing civics, my car is a 99 sedan.
Trim panels, most have conor screws, and clips. Best to get some small baggys and label the screws on each section, just make things easyer. I took off all upper, lower, rear deck, rear pillars, front pillars off. This can be a bitch, take your time and wear some thin gloves for better trip.
prep:
You want to start of with cleaning and de-greasing all your trim panels, mine where a bit dirty, 4 years of crap, and dust. I ran all my parts under a hot shower for 10 mins, then cleaned them off and set them to dry. I started off with soft sanding with a 320 grit sand paper, then a 700.
After all your parts have a nice clean surface you want to take a dust free wipe rag and clean them off as best you can. When all the parts are free from scratches and dust you can start premiere. There is a big diffrence in how your ride will turn out with the type of paint you use, don't use that magick crap, use only krylon, i suggest a flat white, or color thats a basic hue, bright colors, whatever you want. Krylon fusion paint just came out and it is without a doubt the best. Get some krylon premier, use a thin coat and let it sit.
Then get yourself a steel wool pad and start rubbing away. You will notice the finish is almost mirror flat. Now you want to get some compressed air and get all the conors and notces, wipe down the entire surface with a clean dust free rag. Steel wool will leave little parts of steel wool on the surface if you don't wipe them down enough. Now that you have a nice premiered finish you want to start coating.
I suggest 10 coats, very thin. Some parts need more, but never go over the same surface twice, just wait.
Dash: the dash is actual pretty easy to do, i use tin foil to tap off the streering wheel, and hub, the center deck was taken out for painting, and the guages where also taken out for cleaning. how just get yourself some tape, normal paper and put the paper inside the ducts a bit on the end of the dash and tape them, againts the window. make sure you take all of the sides, so paper does'nt fall off with some wind and get on your surface. I would'nt suggest premier cuase it's a soft vinly surface not plastic. I used a gloss krylon white, after i cleaned and degreased the surface. then coat, go very very thin. your first 2 coats should be very very thin, never go over the same spot, it runs easy. Then do 6-8 more coats. Done. On a dark colored car your dash will stand out so much outside, make's your interior a lot bigger, deeper and more chetching to the eye.
Ending it up,
This part ***** everyone over. Wear latex gloves, cut your nails, wear a tshirt, and take your freaking time, don't put to much stress on bends, paint can crack easy. If some clips are'nt going in, cut them, i only have 4 clips holding my rear deck in, and it won't move or rattle. Also before you put all the parts back on, now is a good time to get some sound deadening materal, bottom of the rear deck, rear deck itself, and verious pillars and seatsides are great to deaden.
the entire project should take about 10-20 hours of work, i started my first one and it took me about a week, then i started with a lamp setup and a better cleaner layout and takes about 3 days. Also helps to have some friends do some panels along with you, good 12 pack fun.

Thanx for the info. I actually have a Optional center console for my civic. The peice has been discontinued for years now so I was only able to find a blue one while my int. is dark gray. I've painted it a few time but it never lasts more than a few months. I try to hit it up again .
