How do you de-pin the ECU???
I'm trying to do MPFI now and I can't get the damn pins to come out of the ECU harnesses. I keep stabbing the middle of them with a paper clip and pulling on the wire and nothing comes out. How do you do this?
Did you remove the white plastic retaining clip inside the ecu clip?? You push on the sides then it slides out. Those also hold the pins. Also you don't go inside the wire pin you go inside the middle row where its open with pins on both side of it, want a top pin out push up, want a lower pin push down

If you see the small tab sticking down, that is what you are trying to reach,
It has to be parallel with the wire to come out.
I used a small vise to hold the connector so I would have both hands free to
depress the connector while pulling on the wire.
It took me a while to get it so don't feel bad,It can be a pain..

What proceedure? The MPFI? No but I can take some pictures of this junk if you want. I haven't even really started it yet, I can't get the damn pin out. Is a paper clip really the best tool? Mine are all flimsy. I'm going to get a new one and give this a shot.
OK I still can't get it. I understand how to do it but it still doesn't come out. Is there a special tool for this because I don't think a paper clip is cutting it.

I always used a pretty heavy needle, not a huge on but large enough not to bend/break, you've removed that white retainer already correct??
will pins from a 92-95 ecu work? i put two in my plug but the dont seem like the fit very well......should i try to put 88-91 pins in instead or plug everythiing up and see if it works? my mom got all mine out haha i have like 10 of them now
Yeah I tried a thicker paper clip and it didn't work either. I went onto other things and de-pined my Distributor and a bunch of other stuff no problem. Why did Honda have to use these stupid small *** pins on the ECU! Arghh.
I need a new tool. Sewing needle is a very good idea.
Anyone know if Honda sells a specialty tool for this, I heard they did, but no one mentioned it here.

Arghh for the love of god. Where can I get ECU pins like ASAP, **** depinning nothing I stick in there makes it want to come out. I just want to rip the whole ******* thing apart and light this goddam car on fire.

thats exactly what i always use
i dont think a paperclip would work well since they bend so easily. you need something rigid. also, try pushing the wire all the way into the socket (since there is a little free play) and THEN insert the tool to bend the clip. otherwise if it is wedged outward, you may have more troubles. be patient, it takes awhile to learn how to do.

it should be really easy. when i did this all i did was take out those white plastic thing that looks like little hair comb and pulled on the wire and they came right out but you have to pull ONCE HARD! or you risk ripping the insulation. do this and i guarantee they will come out...you don't need a pin! you only need that to push the tabs on the white plastic things that hold the pinds in place.
I asked my brother to give it a shot and he figured it all out in about 2 minutes. So I got the wiring done. Thanks for the help.
