Didn't make what I wanted on the dyno, need advice on BIGGER TURBO...B16 people!
I dyno tuned last Saturday with my DRAG III kit and made 294whp & 234lb torque. It's all on a B16A2 fully built motor with a fully built head. It has Weisco 8.8:1 pistons. I recently was told by Turbonetics that it will not make very much power past 20psi, and they were right. Now I need advice on what to get. Turbonetics recommened that I get a T3/T4E with a .63 AR, and a stage 3 wheel. They said that would be best for my setup for a daily driver/weekend racer. I want to make 400 or more to the wheels, and they said I should be able to make that at 18-20 psi. I can get this for $701.60.
So what do you guys think.....????????

I have been building my engine for a while now and I am just starting to get the turbo related parts (just got my Spearco 28x10.5x3 intercooler and TiAL BOV). I would recommend either a Garrett GT30, Garrett 3040 or a Precision SC616370. The first two are expensive but well worth it.

Yeah i know....why did you stop at 20 psi? They say you could take it as high as 30 psi! I don't know, i'm still thinking about what I want to do. I just got a Quaife and want to install that before anything else!
So any other advice on which turbo? Come on B16 guys, let me know!

i dont think it was the same turbo.
is the drag kit for the gsr a T04E while for the b16 its a T04B .
time for you to upgrade to a t3/to4e 60 trim (.63 a/r) ..
but you know what. I think you could benefit from the 60-1.(t3/60-1 .63a/r)
it would kick some major nuts.
goodluck

Yes I am running a T3/T4B, not E like TYGSR! I asked about a T3 60-1, but Turbonetics said I would benefit from the T3/T4E with a stage V wheel!

I would go with a Precision SC44 .60/.63 if I were you.
It will be good for 450whp within it's efficency range.

I think a t3/t04e 60trim, stage 3 wheel, .63 a/r turbine would work fine. You can easily get 400whp outta it. I also had the t3/t4b but couldnt make much power outta it so i upgraded to the t3/t4e. However, i didnt really get to fully tune with my new turbo. I got outta the scene and just recently sold everything

Re: Didn't make what I wanted on the dyno, need advice on BIGGER TURBO...B16 people! (turbo Si)
I would go with a t3 60-1, It think that you will notice a little more power when you go to higher boost levels with that. The t3/t4 is nice too, but you know how it is, when you go up in boost you only want to go higher. I am doing almost the same setup...I wonder what you would do with 9.5:1 or 9:1 comp pistons?? Anyone know? Jus wondering...good luck man

that 60-1 is a monster but im sure you are running a fmu, if you dont have 440 injectors you need them or 450 dsm a big *** fuel pump and hodata s200b or a uberchip Ive been hearing some good **** about that to run what you waant you need a lot of fuel and making sure that your mixtures are correct. good luck that is still a lot out of 1.6

his motor is built somewhat..i hope he has some sort of fuel management.
anyways..since he IS running 20 psi or so.... he WILL BENEFIT from a t3/60-1.

man go t3 60-1 they are outstanding turbo's. if you can get bb it is even better. my friend had one on his built b16 with aem ems and 720 injectors and he made 413 hp with a 11.9@122mph. is that more what you are looking for? here is mine that is going on my built b16

T3/60-1 stage V turbine wheel, if you have extra displacement or high rev limit then .82 A/R if not then go with a .63 A/R turbine side.

800cc injectors and a .82 60-1 for me
Did you have the block decked and the head resurfaced at all? Just wondering what your compression really is, probably a little higher than the 8.8 if you've had headwork done and sleeves.

Yes I did have the deck resurfaced. The pistons actually sit a tiny bit above the deck, but not as much as the JE's did which I had before.

cheapturbo.com....stage 3 wheel 57 trim .48 turbine + .60 compressor with 5bolt downpipe pattern....= $599.00 flat....I don't think .63 turbine housing cost any much more

those were deffinitly not bad numbers for a b16 depending on the amount of boost you were running.
i would recomend a t3/t4E .63 for street and strip!!

Re: Didn't make what I wanted on the dyno, need advice on BIGGER TURBO...B16 people! (boostin b16)
I just picked up a SC34 with the .63 stage 3 turbine from Precision Turbo (www.precisionte.com). It's a MONSTER compared to my .50 compressor wheel'd E model that I had before.
I'd suggest Precision for 3 reasons:
360* thrust bearings are STANDARD
5 bolt exhaust housings are STANDARD
and it looks like they hand ported the turbine housing... this thing has NO casting marks, it's smooth as a baby's bottom inside!!!
for Precision Turbo's!!!
