just installed legend calipers (4 gen vtec)
I think the legend calipers upgrade is worth it. The stock brake seem as if it's trying too hard to stop (slow the car down). With the legend calipers, the car stop with ease. It doesn't feel as if it's trying too hard to slow the car down. I like it overall. I got my calipers use from the junkyard for $75 so I say it's worth it.
Cool, me too. I just did mine the past weekend. 04-13-03
Works great. Probably gonna kick *** after i break them in.
This is the setup on my table.

This is the brakes on my car. The wheel is super dirty because of my greasy hands after working on them.

Is that $75 each or did you pay that for both calipers?

Will the legend/nsx calipers still clear the stock 15 inch wheels? I need something with more stopping power for those 120mph slowdowns at the end of the 1/4, but can't go bigger because I won't be able to clear 15's for slicks.....
Also, what year and trim legends do the calipers come off of?
THanks,
Brian

To bleed them, you have you remove the caliper and face the bleed hole upright.
Since installing them in the correct side, the bleed hole will be at the bottom. don't swap calipers just to have the bleed hole at the top. Because your pistons will do incorrect braking.

The legend that uses these calipers use stock 15 and stock 16 inch rims depending on the trim package.
The dual calipers are from 93-95 Legend LS coupes (I think L coupe also), and 94-95 Legend sedan GS

I got the pair for $75. I was at this area where there was a lot of auto dismantler. Most of the junkyard wanted $90 for the pair. All I did was I told them I was going around and whoever had the best price then i'll take that one. When I said that price went down to $70 -75 (buy in now). Bleeding them was an ease. There was still some fluid in the pistion when I got them, so I just hooked it on and for some reason there was hardly any air in there. I was surprised. I bleeded 4 times on each side to make sure it was ok though( 2 times when I installed it, 2 times after test driving it). One more thing, I also did the swap in the reverse order (left on right and right on left). It brakes fine and there seem to be no problem doing it this way. I don't know if the nsx calipers are the same as the legend but the legend will clear the 15 wheel with no problem.
the reason they are upside down is because the calipers mount on the back of the hub on the legend, instead of the front of the hub on the prelude, right?
I forgot to mention this when I did my swap. Use just the legend pistion part from the caliper. There's two part to a caliper if you take them apart. One part is the pistion part, one part is the brake pads part (where the brake pads sit in there for the pistion to come over). The prelude brake pads part will fit perfectly with the legend piston part so this will leave no gap between the rotor and outer pad. All you need is just the extra force from the two pistion legend part. At this moment, i'm not using any shem because my pads still have like 60% left. I measured it and I don't think i'll need any later on too. The pistons seem to come out pretty far and I think it should still cover enough for the pad when it wears out.

Yes, I ahve them on my 92 Si.

I't won't work with the si. Vtec and si have a totally different front roters and clipers. If you have the aem big brake, I assume that if you put the legend pistion on, it will be too big for your aem rotor. If you were to have the aem big brake vtec upgrade than i'll fit.
Vtec rotors will just slide right on the si like a perfect fit glove. The only thing is you will have to upgrade the calipers also or that glove will be to small for that hand.
I'm looking at Legend calipers right now. But the guy wants $95 each...I'm just debating if it's worth it. I sent him an email just now to see if these are for new OEM calipers or used or just aftermarket replacements
I got my set....I think they were rebuilt....they looked BRAND NEW when I got them for $206 shipped to me after they got my core calipers. I got pads too with them.

The two parts he is describing is called "caliper" and "bracket".
Use the caliper from the Legend, and use the bracket from the Prelude Vtec. Prelude Si bracket will not work.
You can use the Legend bracket but when pads start to wear, it becomes highly hazardous, becaues the pads can become thin enough to slip throught the bracket and cause dangerous situations.
So it's better to use the brackets from a Vtec Prelude since they are made for the Vtec rotors.

As far as I know, they only comes in pair (caliper and bracket). At the dealer (honda), you can get them seperately but it might cost you an arm. Most places will not seperate them when being sale. If you can get them for under $100 at the dealer than that's you best bet. If not, Just buy it from the junk.
