a quick simple question regarding the legend GS brake install
my search function is not working, and I could not find the answer to this question.
Its a very easy question, and I'm sorry to make another thread on this topic. Feel free to lock it after its answered...
Legend calipers require an extra shim, due to the legend brake rotors being thicker, correct? Can this also be resolved by using Legend rotors? Is the hat offset, hub diameter, and lug pattern the same?
Thank you.

i'm assuming you have a 4th gen. you can't use legend rotors because they're 5x114.3 and we're 4x114.3. you could get a rotor and have the pattern redrilled but that's not advisable. just get vtec rotors and use the backing of some old pads as shims, it works fine.
Yup, that's what i did. Well, I didn't have old pads so i had to shave down BRAND NEW pads that came with my calipers.
I'm really confused as to how that would work safely. Is there anything else you could use besides old pads? I thought there was only like a 3mm-4mm difference.

I'm ready to do this swap too and I found out something that might help (4th gen vtec). There's two parts to a caliper. One part is the one with the piston. The other part is the one that holds the brake pads. Use the legend pistion part with the prelude brake pads part and you probably won't need a shim. They fit just perfectly leaving no gap between the pads and the rotor surface. The legend caliper alone looks dangerous to use because our rotor is thinner. There's a gap between the outer pad to the front rotor surface and if the pad wears out, the pad will just slide right out of the caliper. Hope this help.

The following comments pertain to a 5th gen, since that's what I've got.
If you're trying to use the prelude rotor, the yes, you'll need to shim it, but I don't see why you would. You get a thicker rotor w/ the legend piece, which = better thermal effiecency and less fade. If I were, and for ease of install, I'd use the legend rotors, or I wouldn't do the swap. Legend, NSX, ITR and 5th gen prelude ALL use the SAME front pad shape. Also, when mounting the caliper (on a 5th gen) you've got to mount the claipers left on right and right on left to get the bleeder nipple facing up; air doesn't fall, it rises and if you don't mount them this way you're gonna have a hell of a time bleeding your brakes; i.e., it won't work. People mention problems w/ excessive pad taper wear when swaping calipers around (as the pistons are staggered, i.e., on is larger (lead) the other smaller (follow), but I've personally spoken to Brian Hasty about this, and people using this setup, and have found NO ill wear on the pads. Good luck. PS- you can get all the parts you need for this swap at Autozone.

hey man hehe try not to appologize so much when asking questions
,, but neway, i have done this conversion, vtec rotors are 23mm, legend are 28, if u are lucky and have a 5th gen just buy legend rotors and calipers, boom ur all set, but if u have a 4th gen vtec like me, the calipers bolt right up, as for the spacer, my pads are new so the pistons just take up the 5mm of travel, for the long term yea im gonna make a shim some time soon, but the pistons will take up the 5mm, i just wouldn't let the pads get too low, i have no shim and my car stops HARD. oh yeah and a side note, don't swap the left for the right to make bleeding easier just hang the calipers and stick a peice of wood in there and bleed them. good luck
EDIT: yeah i didn't read the post above too well, hes got some good info too, autozone has all u need except the frigin 62 dollar core charge each!!
