So basically, we just pop open the hood, spray the stuff, wait...hose it down...close the hood & turn on the engine?

Does this stuff work on that part under the hood too? I got a bunch of oil splash stains under there that don't seem to want to scrub off.

I work In a lincoln mercury dealership and am pretty good friends with the professional detailer there. We use a chemical which we buy in bulk called Mean Green. This stuff is amazing! It will degrease anything and is really safe. Plus, I get it for free! I dunno if it is available in retail stores but the company we order it from is called cook.

Just my $0.02

you dont need to cover anything. all of the engine compartment is sealed to make sure if water does get into it... that the car doesnt brake down. if something does happen, then your seals are bad around the car.
i just pressure washed mines as well... looks alot better than it did. the only thing you need to make sure is covered is the positive of the battery.

i used to have a ram air intake, not a CAI and i woudl wash my engine with a hose, i just steered away from the filter and ive never covered a single thing on my car and it runs fine. but that doesnt mean its the smart thing to do.

This is basically an old detailers trick,me being an old detailer.Ive been doing this for years and also when i owned my own car detail shop.Main thing is not to let water get down in the spark plugs. There are a few cars that have sensors that are water sensitive 300ZXs being onr of them but no Honda ive ever encountered. You can do this with any good degreaser and water based protectant like original armor all.As someone stated earlier do not use silicone based protectants like Black Magic,Tire Wet etc.
1. Warm up motor,not hot,
2. Spray motor with water to get wet
3.Spray on degreaser,be careful and try to not get overspray on fenders or bumper cause most degreasers will streak paint but can be removed with cleaner wax.
4. Let soak for 5-10 Min.
5.Rinse off with water.Low pres or high pres whichever you feel comfortable with.
6.Soak with Water based Protectant until engine is milky white.
7.Crank car and let it run with hood closed for 5-15 min until armor all is baked on.

if you really want to clean your engine, dont use engine degreaser

use Orange Blast, you can buy that from walmart.. and its in a bright neon orange bottle. that stuff works way better than engine brite.

what i did, was just take the battery out, intake out, stuff the TB with rags and any other electrica just cover it up with a rag , then hose the engine bay with Orange blast, and use a nylon brush to scrub any hard oil, orange blast breaks down oil so fast you`ll be amazed.

then hose down the engine bay with water, and your set.

I didn't cover anything when I did mine for the first time, then I learned better when my car wouldn't start for eight hours. water in the alternator=Not good.

did it about an hour ago and worked really well on the resevoirs such as the power steering fluid, but not as clean as that integra pic. i think they did some more detailing after they did that process. i'll post pics when i get a chance. don't think i did anything wrong, but my engine does look a hell of a lot better than it used to , just not "brand new" like the teg.

Default I've been doing that...

.. for years, and it works! Just remember to use the FOAMNY Engine brite b/c the other **** is 1. flammable (not good) and 2. stinks like gasoline and fills your whol cabin w/ that wonderfull smell (also not good!) Use the tire shine, and then use armor all on the misc hoses, caps, plastic, etc. Makes your engine bay look new!
You'll need about two bottles of the engine brite, and the integra pics, I'm sure, involved some scrubbing w/ a brillo pad while the engine brite sat. The engine block usually needs a little help, but comes out looking great.

I did it this morning, my motor was clean in the first place except for a few spots. But it still worked great! didn't cover anything and the car started just fine. Just try not to get so much on the alternator

Well, there isn't THAT much of a difference but you can tell it's a bit shinier.
