I am going to clean my engine bay this weekend, it will probably be the first time it has ever been touched sicne it was made in 92, I just got it BTW.

But how can i go about it? IT IS COMPLETELY STOCK under the hood, should i cover the intake and powerwash it? Spray it with some sort of chemicals? anybody have any ideas? Please let me know...

make sure you cover up your electrical, ie dizzy, distributor etc..

we use SLAM where i work, but gunk is good too. just dont saturate your dizzy. do it while it is running. and avoid saturating any electrical stuff. i SLAM my engine every time i change the oil.

But what about some green stuff or something like that? I heard it works real good...

I've used the Foam GUNK and pressure washer. Just make sure you cover up the dizzy and intake. Avoid soaking any electrical units/plugs for a long time. Just spray on the GUNK. let it sit for a bit and blast away with the pressure washer.

Other method is a toothbrush and simple green

Cover up distributor cap and alternator. Spray DEGREASER generously all over (except the areas noted above and don't soak the spark plugs!) basically rule of thumb is to not soak any part and keep the water spray moving). Let the degreaser sit for a few minutes and spray off with hot water. Some problem areas will require more attention. Just do this until it is clean then wipe dry and remove plastic (used to cover up those part). Clean your engine a little more regularly and make it easier on yourself. Good luck.

go buy some castrol degresser and spray that **** on you motor while its running and then let it sit for like 10min and then turn your motor off and spray it off. this is what we used at work. i am a detailer at a car dealership. if that doesn't work just spend the time and scrub it.

i just use simple green then when im done, USE the tire foam. ie the tire foam that makes your tires all shiney, spray it all over your your engine,hoses,and the body but do it lightly.(lightly)

here is one i did this past summer for a HT member
Decided to help a fellow H-T member with his new car. and his filthy engine bay. came out 100x better than what it started with. Hid alot of wiring and rerouted the wiring. cleaned it up alot. Enjoy

Wow, I'm jealous of that engine bay!!! Nice work, man. I've been meaning to do this to both of my cars for some time now. Something else always manages to get in the way

Simple Green is a degreaser, FYI

Simple green is a mild degreaser. Gunk is a heavy duty degreaser.
on the engine bay above i used
2 tooth brushes
1/2 gallon of simple green
2 cans of GUNK
garden hose
and alot of elbow grease

Wrap up the electrical stuff in plastic bags- alternator, distributor cap, harnesses, fusebox, battery. The gunk foaming cleaner works good, use the whole bottle. Let it soak and rinse with a light stream of water, then attack nasty spots with the castrol degreaser, rinse lightly, and dry it off with shop rags. Dont get crazy with running the engine because it could suck water. A little water is ok but if that goes up in there in a big way the engine might croak. Ive seen mechs ruin alternators cleaning the engine, so be sure and bag all that.

all i used is simple green and high pressure washer and it worked well. jus make shure u wipe it after u wash it

I already PMed him lol, but yeah hes working on them, i say just cut wires, make them ultra long, hide them low, and put black ricer loom over them to hide em, works good for me so far, ill get pics later
