Default OEM HID with the shield

I just got the H4 shields for my hids and I thought I should show some of you guys that are interested in how they look. The first thing I noticed about the shields is that they are made of steel. I was afraid that it might be too flimsy and will bend, but the plating is thick so that shouldn't be a concern.

Here's how the shield looks like. Looks very solid.

This is how it would look with the bulb in place.

This is how it looks when mounted. Notice the duck tape on my intake. Thats where the ballast is mounted.

This is how it looks before the adjusting. The spread is decent even though it isn't nearly as good as projectors.

I'll try to get some night pictures tonight and add to this post when it gets dark around here.

Well, I just got back from taking some pictures and doing some adjustment to my headlights. Frankly, I'm pretty disappointed with the lighting output. I thought it wouldve been brighter. Maybe its because they are D2R bulbs.

A normal look at the hids

A lower view of the hids

This is the lighting output of it and the spread if you can even see it.

I was thinkin' of making a separate post - but this is related b/c the HIDs have shields built in...I contacted http://www.autolamps-online.com they have 2 different kits for h4s
1. is low beam only with an adapter shield ($575.00)...I found a link here w/pics & comparison to another -suppliers HID w/shield see here LINK MAY NOT WORK - TOO MUCH TRAFFIC - SORRY GREG
http://www.geocities.com/jchendds/gallery.html BTW these are made to order
2. is a NEW "hylow" no pics available yet - approx $735.00

has anyone on HT purchased from autolamps-online - if so please letme know you experiences w/product & service. I have cantacted them and all bulbs & ballast are REAL philips (gauranteed) & the 6000k are real philips ultinons...They are NOT colored bulbs like CATZ HID kits (something I had wanted to steer away from) I think I might be a ginuea pig & try the "hylow" kit - Greg

there is alot of light scattered above where the cutoff would be in a true hid setup, thats why it is best to go with projectors, dont forget to post how they perform and whether or not you are getting flassed by oncoming traffic.

Not to be a post ***** but I set up GB pricing with AutoLamps but no one seemed interested.

I have a set of HyLow 6000k on the way and 4300k bulbs as well (I'm selling those). I will take pics when they get here so you guys can see them (I guess I'm your guinea pig). Here is the original post with all the info. Hit me up on Im or HLyons@gapac.com for any ?'s. Their customer service seems good right now. They were back ordero n the 6000k kit but they should be getting them on Monday and they will be sending everything to me them (Hopefully get it by Friday).

here is the link: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=452478

And for those of you who are too lazy to click on it.

Here is the info:

"Here is the original info:

Okay this is how it would work. I would setup a Honda-Tech.com specific password that would enable us to get discounts for us as members.
The best they could do is 5+ people would make it 10% off and 15+ people would make it 15% off. I have done you all the courtesy of breaking down what that mean pricing wise for each kit.

H1 4300k: 5+ people= $495.00 15+ people= $467.50
H1 6000k: 5+ people= $610.20 15+ people= $576.30
H4 4300k: 5+ people= $449.10 15+ people= $424.16
H4 6000k: 5+ people= $521.10 15+ people= $492.15

H4 Hylow 4300k: 5+ people= $540.00 15+ people= $510.00
Here is a vid of how it works: http://www.autolamps-online.com/gasd...low%20lamp.htm

It actually moves the position of the bulb itself so it is a true high beam H4 kit.

H7 4300k: 5+ people= $449.10 15+ people= $424.16
H7 6000k: 5+ people= $521.10 15+ people= $492.15
9005 4300k: 5+ people= $449.10 15+ people= $424.16
9006 4300k: 5+ people= $449.10 15+ people= $424.16
9006 6000k: 5+ people= $521.10 15+ people= $492.15

NSX kit 4300k: 5+ people= $540.00 15+ people= $510.00
NSX kit 6000k: 5+ people= $630.00 15+ people= $595.00

Okay now the kewl thing is say you are like me and you are impatient and you want to get your kit right now but there is only 6 people that want to hop on it @ the same time as you. You'd get the 10% discount.

Now if after you get the kit and you are singing its praises, people on the board start being more receptive to it and then 15 more people buy the kit.....they get 15% off. And the people that ought the kit when it was only 10% off get an additional 5% refund on their credit card so there is no penalty for buying early and we can keep this Gb open for a couple of months.

As much as I would like to put true hid projectors on my car, I'm sorta on a budget right now so I figure I can just use the shields for now. So far no one has actually flashed me yet with these lights. I still need to go do some adjusting when it gets dark. I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes.

ok. here's a question... i have HID's in my 99-00 CTR headlamps.. and there's no diffuser shield built into the CTR headlamps. will this shield be covering the top or bottom once inserted ? looks like bottom to me. due to the triple prong... will this help me with my glaring problems?

i realize cost is usually the deciding factor with these kits, but i did an audi a4 retofit into denji projectors for 500$ in total, i did the work myself and it wasnt as hard as i originally thought, it just needed aluminum brackets that i made with tinsnips and aluminum sheet. it looks like it would on a factory audi and i am very satisfied.... Apexi ITR, i think one othe reasons you arnt getting much interest in these groupbuys is b/c these retrofits are available for the same price..im not trying to come accross as the hid ****, just my .02

No offence taken. I'm not gaining from it @ all.

I've seen HID's in a civic and it looked like TL HIDS (TL's don't have projectors) with a BMW hue to it. They were really nice.

I've seen 96 up civic lights that HID's and they looked good as well. We'll see how good the beam is when I get my kit. I will take extensive documented pictures of the kit, install, light output (I'll try my best to get an accurate pic of what they look like) and I will get some locals that are on this board to post what they think.

sounds good
will this be with the 4100k bulb or 6000k bulbs or both?
and will this be in a normal not projected housing?

I've got the H4 kit from Autolamps-online, and it rules...4100k, and the shields on a 00 Civic coupe=well placed lights. I will say this, I traded my factory lights for some that had been painted flat black, and my glare problem went away. I did have a few people high-beam me, but a little aiming cured that.

Normal civic head lights. I had those projectors and they sucked with regular lights. I believe they are just as bad with HID's.

I'm geting the hylow 6000k kit but I also paid for an extra set of 4300-4100k bulbs so I could compare the 2 and I could give a fair review of both.

The 4300k bulbs will be up for grabs after I compare the 2 light ranges and document it.

How is the actual beam pattern and do they look like HID's or what?

I'm spending alot of money to help those of us who want to get HID's with 92-95 style headlights. There are very few civic owners with those style headlights that do this conversion and even less pics online to see (of course some kits never do it justice).

Well there is that post of the EG'r with the Catz kit (It looked nice too).

SPRAYIN' if you could take some pics that would be great
DO NOT TRY H3 HID in aftermarket projector housings, i have pics of 6000k philips hid h3 d2s using "cheezy" projector housings (in my old 97 hatch) - they look cool but function wise suc I will try to get them posted later this weekend the beams are SOOOO crooked AND uneven thats why i wanna get h4 and throw the h3s in some OEM fogs on my '00 (yes - i am HID crazy )....(if somebody knows where I can post pics 4 free please IM me)

Autolamps has been doing a HID shield for a while now. Also with our type of reflector headlights the 4300k with out the shield gives the HID's a yellowish tint (Bottom of the reflector makes it look yellow). The cuttoff shield takes a lot of the yellow out of the beam though.

Hey albert this is Danny. As you can see in the shield it is for the bottom portion of the shield. I once read somewhere that by putting the shield on the bottom it prevents the upward glare. I dont remember exactly where I read it from.

As for the headlight housing, it will not give the true HID look whatsoever. Basically its brighter bulbs with less power consumption. Eventually I will look into retrofitting true projectors in the housing, but for now this is good enough.
