Philly 3/15 In-car clip... B20 VTEC Turbo..

Thanks to everyone for a good time... This was the 1st time I really drove the car hard since the turbo install.
The sound you hear is the car revving from 3000 to 7500 in 2nd gear, not first. Listen for the BOV, you should hear it.
The "bouncing" is the wheel hop that I must do something about... Anyone?

Stiffer mounts? (heh heh, you said 'stiff mounts') I don't know what you are reffereing to. I have 250#F/275#R, full urathane, sway bars, and adj shocks. And urathane motor mounts. I could get the z-10 kit, but it's $$$.

It's all the freeekin' power your puttin' out man!
I found I had the same problem in driving a Type R the weekend before... lots of wheel hop. Not my car, but I do know that it was very well set up for cornering. I'd be afraid to dial the wheel hop out for fear of loosing streetability and loosing some of the softness you need upfront. I'm speaking purely from theory not from practice... so their may yet be a way to have it all.
Just my 2 cents

i spoke with you a little about suspension travel and such at the event. i think your wheel hop may stem from unsufficient travel as well. get that fixed first and see if it helps.
remember how i said i _had_ urethane suspension bushings but put stock stuff back in? the reason i did it was because the urethane had worn out in 1 season and there was a lot of slop in the bushings. i had some pretty severe wheel hop when that happened, so you might want to check that out too.

Now back on topic please........
I watch this forum intensly because it is a great forum. I'm always learning new stuff, and I'm a huge autocrosser in the North Texas region. But you've really been a bit rough on this fellow; he's new and still learning the ropes of true competition. Attitudes like this will only alienate the folks who legitimatley want to take up competitive racing.
If you were met with this attitude at an autocross, would you likely attend a 2nd event? Probably not...

haha! I try pretty damn hard with novices that come out to autocross. Most of them are open to new ideas and genuinely want to learn.
Now if someone came to the event with the attitude that they didnt want to learn, said the rules were crap and hated scca, then i'm going to expect that he will not return.

I was their this past weekend I was the guy with the 90 black civic with the skinny 13's sliding all over the place. I ran right after you did. I had no ideal that you were turbo though. Nice video and nice driving by the way. I also have wheel hop which is probably from these polyurethane bushing. I'm in the process of trying to get stock mounts to cut down on these vibrations and wheel hop.
maybe we should have a threadlocking council create a resolution that in the event all diplomatic means are exhausted to remove bad posts/posters rj has, at his discretion, the right to lock said thread or removed said poster.
can i be the first on this security, er, threadlocking council?
nate-who figured this thread is lost, why even try to get back on topic??

I think a little more practice and some 15" rims and you will be in business. I saw 2 of your runs, you need to brake a little later and more aggresive. Couple of things and you'll be real competitive I bet. Nice video skillz, it looks pretty cool.

Cool vid! I wish I could have shown up to this event too, but my wife would only let me go to one or the other
So I picked the event on Sunday in NEPA.

Yeah thats next on the do list, suspension, rims, and tires of course. And then minor stuff like strut bars and etc.... Oh yeah and some driving skills.

braking is the last thing any racer learns to do good. i've watched my own progression from the coast-brake method to the too-late-lock-'em-brake method to the current mostly-good-occasional-screw-up-brake method. it's freakin tough to get the car slowed enough at the right time without over/under doing it. learning to lfb has helped greatly, but i think it's because the learning process forced me to concentrate on braking more and become more sensitive to the limit. ultimately, seat time is your greatest ally in learning when, where, and how much aggression you need with the brakes. in the mean time, braking too much is less costly then braking too little.

Yeah braking is difficult... timing is everything, and that only comes from seat time. One of the best lessons I had in braking was riding along with a, actually the guy, in an S2000. His braking was so aggressive, and precise, it continues to be my reference point for how to do it.
GAS ON, BRAKE on... if you can help it, no coasting.
Also thanks for the stuff about urethane bushings.
I'm considering overhauling my front suspension and was seriously considering using ure... it's still my daily driver afterall.
