Default FYI: rays lug nuts are heavier than spoon lugnuts.....

A while back, Willard and I compared my rays lug nuts to his spoon lug nuts. You could tell the rays lug nuts were heavier... and these were the closed-ended ones. If you had the open-ended spoon lugnuts, I bet they would be even lighter!

We didn't formally weigh them - I'll do that soon enough.

But if you're looking to eek that extra bit of lightness, then spoon is better...

Anybody weigh a mugen lugnut?

FWIW, my Kyokugen lug nuts are pretty light, open ended design.

Mugen will be heavier than Spoon and Rays.. since it's made by steel but seriously who cares for the weight of lugnuts..

If anyone is seriously Comparing Aluminum lugnuts but actually Worrying Which one is lighter Then I sure hope that your car is COMPLETELY stripped and you have paint removed from most areas, Parts Acid Stripped to reduce weight etc. Because 1 ounce per 5 lug nuts isn't much.

This is true.

I was just trying to incite a new fad in the ITR forum.

The reason I like the Daiyama lug nuts is because they are easier to remove by hand once loosened.

Realtime uses Daiyama, but I believe most JDM N1 CIRCUIT MASTER ENDURANCE cars use C-West, so you be the judge.

I like my Skunk2 lugs, even though they are changing color on me. Personally, I think that becuase we are dealing with lug nuts here they are fine as long as they don't break or damage the wheel while still holding the wheel on.

JN who likes his lugs simply for that reason. Even if they are changing colors

Oh then Cwest is better, because the master Enduro class use them. I'm going to have to put a set on order with my Yellow Headlights.

Function over looks anyday, but seriously, as mentioned above, a couple grams here or there will not slow you down...I guess take a big poo before you drive and you'll make up the weight difference.

This has got to be one of the most entertaining posts i've seen in a while(thanks Mike ).

I'll bet a six pack 2 of these are lighter than one Rays lugnut!

Mugen lug nuts are made of steel. I had a set. They weight as much as a stock set of lugnuts. But we are talking about a few ounces, I think we' d all save more weight by not eating lunch.
