Default crx weight reduction & factory weights

i have a 88 hf which is the light 88-91 crx from the factory. i was wondering exactly what the factory weight rating is and how much i could save from gutting the interior( 1 seat, all plastic panels, spare & jack, etc.)? how much could be saved with plexiglass windows?

FOR SALE:
88 hf manifold(uncut for turbo)
stock d-series parts( 2 whole engines to pick at)
WANTED:
88-91 Si ECU

According to this info I have,

"1988 Honda Civic DX HB MT 1993
1988 Honda Civic HB MT 1933
1988 Honda CRX Si MT 2017
1988 Honda CRX DX MT 1922
1988 Honda CRX HF MT 1819"

Looks like your HF is approximately 1800 lbs! That's very light. If you removed the passenger seat, jack/spare, and all the plastic you might lose 70+ lbs or so... As far as replacing glass with plexiglass, your guess is as good as mine.

you can also remove the bumper covers and take out the steel bumpers (they are only good for a 2.5mph crash anyway) and reinstall the covers - take crash bars out of doors

we have 89 STD hatch completely gutted with carbon fiber hood, all lexan windows and DOHC ZC - it weighs 1475 lbs - crx should be a little lighter.

I should clarify - we removed gas tank, filler neck and all lines and built a custom 1.5gal tank that is located up front of the motor

The '88 HF never came with steel bumpers OR side impact beams.

kinda need cash, i think you guys should buy some stuff from 88crx91integra. the money will be well spent trust me. 1300lbs is a good goal 88crx91integra all you have to do is remove stuff... right. lets see how high we can get a pile of parts from the hf, im all for it.

toyosupr is a funny kid. i think he wants to rip shtuff of my rex first so we can see if it is worth it on his. no i'm down. the pile is pretty big so far. weight reduction is just as important as building power. less weight to pull the less power needed to reach those 13's,12's, etc. oh yeah buy my stuff. you can cut an HF manifold and weld a turbo flange on it and you have a damn cheap turbo manifold. SO BUY IT!!!
the money is already spent anyway, right toyosupr?

Wouldn't checking your registration be the easiet way to find the weight of your car?

My 91 DX weighs in at a "hefty" 2103lbs.

i gutted my 88hf this way:
a/c: minus 60-70 lbs. (including stuff behind dash)
rear panels: 10-15lbs.
vx rims: 6lbs lighter per rim than 13"steelies: minus 24 pounds
spare and jack removed: 15-20lbs.
front and rear bumper brackets: 20lbs.
being easy on the measurements, i lost, (at the least) 130lbs,
which makes my hf about 1680lbs.
throw in an A6 with i/h/e and hit 14's haha.

Thats funny, I just weighed my 89 CRX Si (with A/C) this past weekend, and it weighed 2,160 pounds. The gas was nearly empty and the only thing I took out of the car was the spare!

Made it myself. used Aluminum for the frame and the rest was lexan. weighed less than 5lbs. of course it was permanent.
