Damn maintenance light wouldnt go off AFTER changed the oil.
I did a search and read all the posts but most were on a blinking maintenance light. Well my stupid light wouldnt go off after I changed the oil. It's funny is that it's been blinking for the last 2 weeks and I've taken it to the dealer to get my moonroof fixed twice during that time. No ***** from the dealership ever asked if I wanted an oil change. Not only that, they've never solved the problem, although they claim they lubed, tightened, didnt hear anything, etc. My warranty ends on the 11th, I think they are stalling. I got 47,500 on the odo. Shouldnt be time for a scheduled maintenance so soon is it? I've held onto the blue button for 10 seconds while engine running and moving but nothing. I've pushed the button in while engine not running. Repeated all these things a few times. Nothing. Wtf is going on? I was taking it out of town and after filling it up with gas midway I noticed the maintenance light on (normally the basterd flashes and disappears, which is what it did when I started up and left my house). I checked my oil, it looked low for some reason. I jacked it up and checked for oil leak, didnt find any. So I added a few more quarts in until it was full on the dipstick. Well, wouldnt you know it, the engine felt groggy at speeds past 65. SO i drove at 65 back home. This morning after draining the oil, all 7 quarts came back out. So I guess I didnt have a leak. It was fuqing weird, I even had my GF check the dipstick when I was doing it to double check since I couldnt believe that oil drained out and the oil light didnt come on (just the maintenance light). Any ideas?
Ummm i think you are in the wrong forum but ohh well. If it is like the integra there is a little button below the dash that you hold in to reset the light.
you put 7 quarts of oil into your motor? that seems like an awful lot. too much oil is not good for your car. anyway to get the light off, you need to hold down the button until the light goes out. just start the car, hold down the button until it stops blinking and you should be straight.
Dood I did do that, even checked the blue button housing to make sure the connection was tight. It is. It must be busted or something. POS usually goes off but not no more. I know I could've stalled the engine last night. But I swear the dipstick showed I was close to empty. I dont know where the fuq the extra oil went either. It was cold and freezing last night so I just wanted to get back home b4 i got stuck in Kingman AZ. Car seems okay, redoing the oil change and see what happens. I tried resetting the light this morning too, no luck.

I'm pretty sure that putting that much oil into the motor is a ridiculously bad thing to do.....wont it just burn it all off and create some wicked build ups or something?

Well, I fixed it. I disconnected the battery for about 5 minutes. Reconnected it. Turned on the engine, and held on the blue reset. After about 5 seconds, it went off.
Well bro, when you are in the middle of no where. It's safer to overfill than to have it on empty. If the engine is flooded with oil, it'll stall. If it doesnt have any oil, you burn your engine. So given the 2, I took the overfill. I dont recommend it, but at 30 degrees at 10pm 1/2 between boonie Kingman and Vegas, I added a few more quarts until I could check it in my garage. ANyway no side effects noticed. I am just glad I reached home. It'd be **** to be stuck in Kingman. Lates.
overfill=BAD
a lot of people burn oil in GSR and ITR so being 1 quart under isn't bad. ALWAYS just keep it between the 2 dots.

uhh fix the leaks, and fill it up to the fill line, Problem solved! Oh yea, you could put 3 quarts in youre trunk because you are in the "middle of nowhere" And if you get low, REFILL IT!. Its lame to overfill the motor. To me it sounds like you don't know WTF you are doing!. nothing personal.
