Default 22 mpg b16 + $2.20 gas = not going anywhere for awhile with my daily driver

damn...the b16 has horrible gas mileage...does everyone else get the same mpg? and 22 mpg is on surface streets AND highway...the worse part is, something's wrong with my ecu and/or oil pressure sensor...

btw, does anyone around the sac area have a b16 ecu (obd 0) i can borrow to see if i have a faulty ecu?

man that sucks. I get 19 out of my awd turbo wagon. don't drive it much. my hf gets about 42. maybe your o2 sensor is gone? i would try a factory honda one, much more acurate than the bosch crap.

Jeez how do you guys drive? Makes me scared to drive my B20 once i get it in. Is it because of the sprited drving or just how you choose to tune your car? Any one else have this happen? What is the typical MPG for a occasionaly hard driven/rev'd B20? anyone?

i don't drive my car hard at all... I think something is messed up on it causing it to get such bad gas milage - I have to sorta step on it sometimes to make it move (we all know the power d15 has !)

the best ive ever done was 36 mpg in the b16 rex, all highway miles. i averaged 29 mpg, there has got to be somthing wrong with your car. or maybe im just lucky

i dont think this will help much. but i get 55.4 kmpg ( sorry JDM cluster ) with my B20vtec with 290cc prelude SH injectors. It is also set to 13.8 air to fuel raio. measured on a tech-edge wide band O2 sensor. I also get 450kmpg per tank btw the car is a 91 SI.

yeah i might have a messed up O2 sensor or something...but i'm too lazy to get the one between my exhaust manifold and block....looks too hard. 22 mpg is with 80mph freeway cruises and normal takeoffs and such....

hey agent_smith....can i meet you up somewhere and borrow your ecu for a test run or two?

Heh, that's it? I'm getting 38 MPG now-- city/highway mixed driving. And I'm not babying it either. Even without the VAFC, only running on the low camshaft lobe, I still got about 36 MPG using my PG7 ECU. SOHC VTEC gives you the best gas mileage. IMO, my current setup is in every way better than sticking with my A6. I have much more power, it weighs the same, and I get better gas mileage! What more could I ask for?? <---Turbo!

Why would that be...?

It's called OBDI and taller gears

And yes I am envious in that respect

but the B16 can handle the freeway revs. Its got the best r/s ratio. 1.75. perfect.
But HEY who likes to cruse @ 5k? not me, but look at it this way, real close to VTEC> lol

My mileage sux too. 22 normally 25 if I can manage to keep my foot out of it. If you go to Burlingame by the SF airport 91 octane is $2.35. Hella sux. I Costco gas stations under $2.00 .

I was getting 25mpg in my d15b1 w/ mpfi swap, changed the O2 sensor (and put a header on) and it kicked up to 29mpg. I've been told in another forum that if obd0 hondas are running below 170 deg, they stay in "cold mode" which makes them run rich and waste gas. and our cooling systems are so efficient that in weather like most of the country is having right now, our cars never get above 160 or so. the cure: block off 1/2 to 2/3 of the radiator so air can't flow through it. I just did this to mine today and I'm taking a long road trip this weekend (to the HT NW meet in Seattle). I'll let you guys know if it helped any when I get back Sunday night.

if your that concerned about gas Id suggest a LS trans for its longer gears..but i bet ur car could be in need of a tune up..just because you have more hp doesnt mean you loose that much gas mileage..I have a V8 car with 3 speed auto and it gets 17mpg and makes 330 whp

i suggest making more money. or being less stingy. :>
takes 12 to 15 bux AT MOST @2bux a gallon to fill my tank. it'll do 200+ mpt
b16a+j1 tranny pr3ecu

i usually put octane booster in too. as jdm motor. japan has higher octanes at the pump. so around 20 bux wit booster a fill. no offense. but dayum

i just took out one of my 2 rad fans....the really small one.....in front of the exhaust manifold/header....due to clearance issues...runs tiny warmer now...but now just @ the good temp mode....so ok!
