My solution to redline mysteriously lowering....
I recently posted inquiring to possible solutions to my redline mysteriously lowering to 8000rpm. In my pursuit of the solution I replaced my spark plugs, distributer rotor and cap, air filter, and fuel filter. None of this fixed my problem.
So then I take it to the dealership and ask what a diagnostic will run me (to just see if anything is wrong, not fix anything) they say $105. I say no freaking way am I paying that. I get home and try to think of solutions, the ECU threw me a code 22 a couple of days ago (went away though). So I took apart my VTEC oil pressure solenoid (nothing seemed wrong with it).
Then my roommate pulled up in his Del Sol VTEC. His solenoid seemed the same as mine, we switched them and bada boom badda bing my problem was solved....what a beautiful thing. The solenoid was causing my car to cut out at 8000rpm in every gear.
Just thought I would let you all in on my solution. Is there any difference in the pressure solenoid across VTEC cars? Cause this one is seeming to work fine... and mine works on his car with no problems.... really strange.

The silver lining in your problem is that it forced you to replace everything you should replace semi-regularly anyway. So you aren't worse for wear and you have a well maintained motor now.
Yeah... well all the stuff didnt REALLY need to be replaced. It was all replaced at regular intervals. The plugs and air filter were pretty bad, but I know what you mean. A properly maintained engine is the best performance modification you could ever do.

You can always count on those Del Sols to solve the problem...
