i've taken my 4th gen gauge cluster out before, actually, about a month ago, to put in some reverse indiglo gauges. i didn't have any problems, except getting the actual cluster out of the opening. pain in the ***. anywayz, all my needles work, but when u say they are spring loaded, wat does that actually mean? sorta dumb question, but i'd like to kno. thanks.

i dont have enough info but i think you are talking about the 5th gen (94-97) accord right.
to take the cluster out you have to take the center consol out, remove the black trim that goes about the shifter& and radio, you also have to remove the 2 screws that hold the radio in but dont disconect the radio, and finally you have to take the black trim around the gauge cluster. i will give you more details on where all the screws are at ..........................im at work , i have to get back to work give me a few hours to get back with you.

starmann,
when they mean the needles are spring loaded, there is a spring that makes the needle turn if you take the needles out the spring unwinds and the needle will never read or be in the same possition again,

*********************TOOL YOU WILL NEED*****************************
1. real short screwdriver
2. long screwdriver
3. thin plathead screwdriver
(I have a short & long wrachet screwdriver set so use that if you got it .....it's alot easier on your hands)
*******THINGS YOU NEED TO TAKE OFF BEFORE YOU GET STARTED**************
1. a/c control ****
2. use flat head screwdriver to gently pry , hazard botton, rear defroster botton, i have a ex so i have a cruise control and sunroof botton combo take that off also. now open the armrest and look at the bottom and take off the lid at the bottom. take the ash tray off also .......
********************NOW FOR THE FUN PART
***************
1. there is 1 screw behind the cruise control botton opening , 1 more behind the rear defrost botton, & 2 screws above on the gauge (black)trim
2. there is 1 screw behind the ash tray
3. there is 2 screws inside the armrest lid you took off.( how remove the whole center consol armrest & cupholder combo)
4. right where the shifter(black) trim meets the center consol (cup holder arm rest combo) there are 2 screws you need to take
off l_l
do you see the voids in this cheap-*** atempt of a diogram thats where the screws will be. now you will be able to take off the (black) trim that goes around the shifter ,radio, clock, ashtray, and hazard botton off . It should slide right out disconect all wires connected to the trim i think its the clock and cigarette lighter.
5. now you will be able to get to the radio from here. there are 2 screw that hold the radio in place on a silver peice of metal take them off and move the radio out tords you.
6. (now the hard part for me to explain to you) there are 2 screws under the a/c control unit ( the unit with a/c bottons). thats why you took out the radio so that you can get your screwdriver up and under the a/c control unit. they would be behind the clock and above if the clock was in place. ( i hope i did a good job in explaning it)
7. now your almost done. at this point you should have 13 screws total. you can now take the (black) trim that goes around the gauge cluster off.(note. right above the a/c control buttons there are clips that hold the trim in place so give it a tug but not to hard of you might break the ( black) trim.
8. now move the trim to one side remember the a/c cable is still connected to the trim dont **** with it.
9. finally take of the 4 screws holding the gauge cluster in tilt the cluster and get the 3 green clips off (wire harness) youre all done
10. reverse the process to reinstall
estimated time ( 20 min ) i done it before so it takes me 10 min tops
