Default Good transmission for highway pulls and ocassional drag on an LS?

What's a decent tranny to slap on a LS for mostly highway cruising and pulls from about 60mph? I'd occassionaly like to drag and road race, but drag is not as important as the road race. I'd like to choose from LS, GSR and B16a. I can't really afford a Type-R tranny right now, so I'm leaning away from that.

Basically I'd like to cruise at a semi-low RPM on the highway, but be able to pull strong from 60 when need be.

This would all be on a LS running running ~10PSI on a t3/t4e. Rolling on 15" wheels with a 205/R15/50 tires.

Mix and matching and gears is fair game I suppose. Other than the dealer, where would I be able to source gears from?

Also if there's any math involved in your reply, please let me know how it broke down, as I'm trying to learn from this so I can answer my own question next time. Thanks.

ok, i have an s1 cable tranny. the gear ratios are very close between the gears so it feels very good on the roadcourse. now, my car is also turbocharged. for drag racing, i feel that the the wider ratios of an ls tranny would allow you to stay in boost longer between shifts and probably help a little with wheelspin on the launch. if you are going to concentrate more on roadracing then i would say a gsr or s1 cable tranny will work best. as for freeway cruising rpm's, i cruise at about 4000 rpm @ 60mph. its really not that bad.
