swap checklist, b18b into an 89 Si
Currently, I have a 1994 b18b in my garage, HCP motor mounts, and I am in search for a b16a or b18a tranny. I've been searching and reading and searching and reading, and I think I know what I need but I still have to make sure. Please add anything else I need or let me know if there is something on the list I don't need.
90-93 teg
axles
intermediate shaft
alternator
injectors
injector resistor box
upper and lower radiator hoses
ecu ('90,'91 or '92,'93???)
distributor ('90,'91 or '92,'93???)
My Si wiring harness will work, but is it easier to just get a b18a harness?
What clutch cable do I use? or does it depend on my choice of trans?
Should I just buy HASport linkage or get it cut and welded? how much shorter should it be if i weld it?
I also have a skunk2 intake manifold of the motor already. Will this change anything???

What clutch cable do I use? or does it depend on my choice of trans? kinda depends, I used a 91 teg cable but comparing it to my 88 hb's cable, looks like it would work, not really sure.
Should I just buy HASport linkage or get it cut and welded? how much shorter should it be if i weld it? Again, depends on whats more convenient to you. You arent asking really any questions that are a yes or no answer, your asking for opinions. If i were you id use whats more convenient for you, if you got a welder and a linkage, hack it and weld it, its not that hard, if you got the cash get an adjustable one, its that simple, if you cut and weld it, measure it and see how much you need to cut off, not every single car is the same, itll all depend on what mounts you got, what linkage your using.

If staying OBD0 need 90-91 Teg Diz and ECU it uses the injector resistor box, need to change injectors or remove the resistor box. If you use a 92-93 ECU need the 92-96 (unsure when when OBD2) Diz. Clutch cable believe you use the Civic should be fine. Need a Teg throttle cable or make a bracket for yours. No wiring differences you can plug and Play with you SI harness. Just use it with the OBD0 ECU and swap Injectors
Seems like you got it all. HASport has got a great tech page for the swap, including a shopping list. Check it out here http://hasport.com/Tech/Hasport%20Tech.htm. You dont need the resistor box since your is an Si.
For the electronics you have two options:
1. non-OBD (plug and play)
- use a 90-91 non-OBD distributor
- use a 90-91 non-OBD ecu
2. OBD-1 (must buy a jumper harness, about $150 or make it yourself)
- use a 92+ OBD-1 or OBD-2
- use a 92+ OBD-1 ecu
You can modify your stock clutch cable to work, or you can get a 90-93 Integra one and it fits perfect. I'd get a new one since old ones are known to snap.
Since your going to use HCP mounts, I would use the HCP shift linkage. I've heard that they don't make a nasty adjustable one anymore, and the new one is good to go. Using the HASport linkage might be questionable, since the motors may sit at different spots in the engine bay. Plus the HCP one should be cheaper.
The Skunk2 manifold is identical to the ITR one right? You will not be able to use a FITV unless you use a 94+ Integra throttle body. IF you go with a 88-91 B16A or 90-93 B18A throttle body you will not have a place to bolt the FITV, not really a problem for most people.
Oh yeah, you also need the throttle cable. You have many options here. Best thing to do is get a ITR cable and ITR cable bracket.
Hope that helps,
Charles

from what car should the belts i use be from? and i don't need the resistor box if i go non obd, right?? and hasport says i need a throttle cable from a 90-93 teg. thanks for the help by the way.

A resistor box is only necessary if you are using 'peak-and-hold' injectors (non-OBD injectors). And that is regardless of OBD or non-OBD distributor and ECU.
If you plan on using the 'saturate' injectors from the B18B motor (OBD-1), then you will need to remove your resistor box.
HASport says you will need a throttle cable from a 90-93 Integra because they assume you are using the OEM intake manifold. Throttle cable and bracket are manifold specific. And since your using a Skunk2 manifold (ITR like), then you need ITR cable and bracket.

One more question and I should be okay. Do the injectors have to be 90-91 or just 90-93? and thanks for all of this, too.
You have the option of using any B-series injectors:
90-91 B18A injectors are non-OBD (peak and hold, which need a resistor). They would be plug-and-play for your 89 Si.
92+ B18A/B injectors are OBD-1/2 (saturate, which do NOT require a resistor). You would need to remove your resistor for these injectors.
If you already have the B18B injectors then I would just use those. Plus they are newer then the 90-91 ones, possibly less mileage.

From my understanding most of the honda injectors in the 1.5-1.8 range all have the same flow potental. I was told to use my stock si injectors with my swap...they worked fine.
