Just like the title says, anyone know if you can legally smog a LS/Vtec?

Is that really all it takes? I thought it would be more complicated since it's a head swap?

not really sure but resonators won't do anything. they help w/ noise, not smog. and all the shops in my area test for emissions, not noise output.

If it were in a teg, I would say you might be able to slide at a normal smog station, but if its in a civic they will most likely catch it and tell you to ref it, and the ref will know a non vtec block and a vtec head; so you wont pass his inspection. It could go either way, but Im going toward not.

nope...can't smog it...emissions are way too high...nitrogen dioxide is too high. my friend's readings were like 115% higher than the allowed emissions level. he had a LS/VTEC setup...good luck...

okay, i thought so, couldn't be that easy...hmmm, how about if i reffed the ls in the civic first, get the bar sticker, then did the head swap? They would still pick up the violation at my next smog huh?

Okay, then scrap that idea, guess the LS/Vtec is track only unless i wanna go the illegal route...too bad though i think it'd be fun - expensive, but fun...lol

would cops know the differnece between head and blocks?

lets say you get a BAR sticker for the ls. then later on you want to slap a vtec head on it, would the cops know the difference?

Don't believe the bullshit. It HAS been done. You have to remain pretty much "stock", though. Good luck.

I've never heard of that before. That's pretty crazy if they'd actually let it pass

it can not legally be done. honda never made and lsvtec as an engine so a ref wont smog it. although i have heard from a shop that he has seen many pass. you just have to find a place that will do it for you. if it dosent work at one then goto a nother.

Negative. Block does not match head.
