Xenon HID bulbs
I'm thinking of installing some new bulbs most likely Xenons. I'm thinking of doing the 9005-9006 conversion. So with this then I'd be running two 9005's right? Sorry for my lack of intell, I've never installed these before. Is there a certain wattage that I should shoot for? I've seen 55W, 65W and 100W bulbs. I would want it brighter but I also want it to be legal. What type of bulb setup do you all reccommend.

Ok first, your Xenon bulbs are not HID. An HID kit includes d2s or d2r bulbs that you have to retrofit in your 9006 socket. You will also have ballasts that convert 12V into 12500V, the voltage needed for those bulbs to get the right light intensity. And you will have to modify your wiring too. HID bulbs are only 32w bulbs
Xenon bulbs are cheap halogens covered with blue film. They are less efficient than plain halogens since they are filtered out by the blue filming. 100watts should be better than the standard 55w, but officially they are not street legal. You should not have problems though.

And here is why:
-They say their 6000K Super Xenon Bulbs are filled with xenon 100%. So far, okay. But the xenon gas cools down the filament thus enabling to get a whiter light. And this is wrong. You cannot get a whiter light unless your filament is heated to a higher temperature. The only way you can do this, is by having a higher voltage, not even with more wattage, (wattage will help you brighten the light output within the same spectrum of colors). And to prove this, True HID's wattage is lower than conventionnal halogens. So the xenon gas inside the bulb allows you to increase your voltage, which renders the filament useless, instead there is an electrical arc that is formed, in turn giving you a whiter light, with a more complete color spectrum, helping you see better. The gap between electrodes in an HID bulb will determine the heat range of the arc, thus the coloration.
They say also that they have access... blablabla... to this unique coating process. So what is the link between the bulb coating process and the fact that xenon filled halogen bulbs produce a whiter light? I don't think there is any except for the fact that the coating is the only reason for the whiter-blueish light, because it filters out some of the yellow part of the halogen light. Xenon changes nothing at 12 volts, because it doesn't produce color, it's the temperature that changes coloration, as you will see next paragraph.
HID is closest that we have in car lighting technology to the sun's light. By comparison, halogens are at least twice dimmer, explaining why the yellowish output, because of a cooler filament temperature. On the other hand, the more Kelvins over the ideal 4300K, the bluer the light gets, because the spectrum of colors narrows down as red and yellow colors start fading, giving way to more blue and green colors. But again, a spectrum of light less wide is less effective because it will not reflect every color in our environment.
This is why their claim of their 6000K HID replacement bulb at $145 each as an upgrade to the stock 4300K is bullshit. And to add to the matter, their arguments about this bulb is strictly a comparison with halogen bulbs, to which an upgrade is a given. But no data or information on the improvement over the 4300K, because in fact, the 4300K are the way to go, but I suspect some company has a patent over 4300K, and no one else can manufacture without a license, so all they can do is try and sell their less efficient 6000K crap instead.
So to me this site is a bunch of BS'ing, and a lot of semi-scientific terms put together in a confusing way to let us think their bulbs are better, without them being so, and still keeping them from being sued for false representation.
Please read and understand before spreading out crap.

Ok I got the bulbs. I think I got ripped off they look like Halogen bulbs, the guy told me they were filled with Xenon but for some strange reason I don't believe him. Well any hoo, the bulbs are 100W. Which I'm afraid to install because first of all they're illegal and second of all I don't want to fry my harness. Since that's almost double the wattage from my previous halogen bulb which I believe is around 45W.

I'm just looking for an upgrade for my old halogens. Does anyone know of a reputable place that sells decent Xenon fill bulbs. I would get an HID kit the problem is that I cannot afford it.

i did the Silvania Silverstars 9005 conversion/fitment whatever you want to call it. It's very nice, big improvment in light, but what do you expect when you're running your highbeams?! but i've also had a really nice set of Razo lightbulbs. those are nice, whiter than the SilverStars. both are a pure white, not a white/blue. i'm tryin' to find a cheap set of Razo 9005's to do the conversion b/c those 9005 are about 65w. but the regular Razo 9006's are really good too, bright.
