I assume it's just asking for the code?
You need the s/n from the unit. Yep, you gotta remove it.
And the VIN, (w/ proof of ownership).
Take those two tidbits to a dealer. They'll give you the code, no problem.

I swear this whole factory stereo bullshit is the dumbest *** thing I've ever heard of. Who the HELL steals a FACTORY stereo? The fuggin' CD player that comes stock with the ITR sucks so bad if a thief stole it I would seriously wonder if they were a retard.
Yet, somehow, they must protect this stereo with some damn 4 diget code which costs you like $50 to get from the dealership if you ever accidentally unplug the stereo or buy a new battery.
Ok, that's my rant.
Just go to the dealership, they'll charge you like $40 or $50 to get the code, if you ask me you might as well just go to Best Buy and buy the absolute cheapest CD player they have, as it would probably only cost you about $30 more and chances are it would be aeons better than the stocky.

The dealer doesn't usually charge you to get a code. I've never been told that I had to pay for it. Maybe they just don't like you. Also, I've heard that if you enter the wrong code more than a certain amount of times, the unit will lock and you will have to take it to the dealer to get reset. In that case, they may charge you because they will have to hook it up.

a dealer will only charge you if you dont have the serial number. they will need to remove the radio to get that, hence the labor charge to remove/reinstall the radio. if you are asking how to "reset" the radio because you enterd the wrong code too many times then you simply pull the backup fuse located in the fuse box next to the battery. it is a 7.5 amp fuse. or like soup said, just disconnect the battery for a few seconds.
yeah...disconnect the battery to reset the headunit. the radio could should be (at least on my car) underneath the ashtray. hope this helps...
