Default difference between d16z6 and d16y8??

is there a difference in the heads of d16z6 and d16y8? does anyone have pictures of the two to compare. i am trying to do a mini me swap for my 99 dx. is one of them better than the other? also are the spark plugs on the same side of the head because i want to but my d16y7 valve cover on it (hopefully) so it doesnt say vtec.

Y8 Valve covers don't say VTEC.

Yes, the Y8 head has a better design "quench zones".

Spade, don't forget about OBD I, and OBD II. I heard that the Y8 had weaker rods...But better/best intake manifold design. Hence the "mini-itr" manifold.

In your situation i would go for the d16y8, it will be simple plug and play...as opposed to the 0bd-1 wiring of the d16z6...which will not work unless modified. The d16y8 will also yield higher compression compared to the d16z6..and the intake manifold on the d16y8 has shorter fatter runners which makes for a better design.
Good Luck

y8 heads are welded= smaller combustion chamber=higher compression.
