Long Term Effects from Lowering
My accord is the 1st lowered car I have owned. I love the way it feels, the way it looks, and the way other people drool over it. I've vowed to drop every car I drive in the future...(although I hope my Accord lasts for at least another 10 years)
Can anyone tell me of any long term effects I may run into having a dropped car? Any horror stories?? Anything I should check regularly? I live in FL so I usually have a smooth ride. But I'm moving back to NJ next year so I anticipate being bounced around a bit more. I just want to make sure I take care of it the right way. Thanks!!

I have a camber kit on there so I am hoping the tires will not be a problem. I was more worried about engine components (or any other main components) being jolted more than usual with the stiffer suspension.
I heard that CV joints can wear out faster and that the chassis takes more of a beating and could crack as well as the suspension components... Maybe motor mounts cracking? I'm sure alot of this stuff is put out there just as a warning and sort of a disclaimer but I am wondering if anyonoe has actually had these things happen?

How do you know when your CV joints are worn? Do you know offhand how much they are to replace??

CV joints if you do the work your self (easy) 100bux or less for the CV and then it depends on what you have for tools.
generally CV joints will not wear that fast if not lowered to far, if you have one go bad look at the wear pattern on the cup, if it does not generally stay in the middle of the cup then you have a problem
if you wanna know if they are gonna wear then look at the boot, if it is obvious the ribs of the boot are rubbing together becasue of an excessive angle on the shaft then I suggest raising the car
do not buy rebuilt axles either, the process they use creates shorter life spans for axles, especially stressed axles
visit http://www.RAXLES.com with your concerns, Mardi will be able to better explain, and they build high quality axles for very good prices
