Default Grounding Knock Sensor

Last night I started getting a 23 CEL for the knock sensor. I grounded the KS wire that runs to the ECU and reset it. I still get a 23 CEL. Anybody have any ideas? Info on the setup: 92 Civic HB, 94 GSR swap with JE 9:1 pistons and Eagle rods, Turbo. I have had no problems with the knock sensor since the swap until now. I have already checked the archives.

You can't just ground the KS wire... You have to pull the KS, wire it up as tho it normally would, and then ground the KS itself... Grounding the KS signal wire straight off looks the same to the ECU as tho there isn't any KS plugged in... Good Luck

Thanks for the info, I will try that tomorrow.

the KS is 1 wire and goes directly to D3 at the ECU. Make sure that wire is not in heated areas or anything.

Just run a wire directly from the KS to D3, reset the ECU, and see if that works.

That is how I had it ran before and it worked fine since September but then it started this CEL thing. I tried grounding the wire from the ECU to ground but that didn't work either. I didn't know you are supposed to leave the KS hooked up and ground it too. Has anyone done this with success.

Yup, works just as if there is a KS wired up but won't sense vibration from your motor indicating to your ECU that a knock... Peace
