Default "Standalone ECU" Forum???

Would anyone else like to see a Honda-Tech Forum specifically dedicated to EMS tuning (AEM, Hondata, Power-FC, Speed-Pro, etc). The manufacturer forums seem to move so slow and I think most of the experienced users spend more time around here...

we definately need something like that since questions frequently pop up in here about hondata, ems, etc and i'm sure some of the all motor guys use these standalones too and can benefit from it.

I'd like to see one, but it shouldn't be called EMS, rather Standalone Tuning or something of that nature, and it should cater to all systems, not just one.

Then we can have a forum for those who run a Greddy type-s bov. No, lets make a bov forum. jk
I think the AEM board has alot of great info. I know that if dustin wanted to make a forum for it he would have. But there really isnt a need because I think all the info on the AEM EMS board is good enough. The only down fall is that it is slow, but so are all the other boards. IMO, I dont think its a good idea.

When I said EMS i meant it as a generic term "Engine Management System" and not just for AEM. It could be called anything...

I personally dont think its a good idea. Just like a bunch of other stuff can be on the internet...it can be the blind leading the blind. Tunning is not like makeing a mistake on forgeting to tighten a clamp...it can create major harm to multiple parts. Most people I know who are really good tuners, they get paid to tune and solve the problems that arise. For the most part, these type of people will not sit there and answer questions because they need to make a living. I have checked out other sites like esp. ones about subaru...and thats kinda how their ems board was. Thats how I feel and everyone might dissagree.

That is true, i never thought it about it from that view. i just wanted to learn about tuning and become familiar with it. And i thought this would be a good starting point. But you have a very valid point that many might not have thought of.

It's always good to learn, but if you're learning from wrong information you could do more harm than good. If you really want to learn something, go buy a book written by someone who actually knows what they are talking about! There are a ton of books out there! Corky Bell has a good book about turbos called Maximum Boost and a guy named Carroll Smith has a lot of books. A few of Carroll's books i'm reading right now are "Prepare to win", "Tune to win", "Engineer to win", and "Nuts, bolts, fasteners, and plumbing handbook". These are about the fundamentals of chassis building and race car building in general. If you really want to learn something, pick up some of these books!
