help fuse blown(alternator sp sensor)
hey guys the other day i was driving my car the CEL came on and my speedometer didnt work. came home to do a search on honda tech and fixed the problem. it was a blown fuse (alternator sp sensor) ive change it couple times already. works for couple hours then fuse blows again. what can be the cause to this?
i just had the same problem today. but mine keeps blowing right away
i spent hours tring to figure it out. i think it may be the alternator, but not sure
still have testing to do, let me know if you find out what it is!

I had a similar problem in my old truck. I solved it by using a slow-blow fuse. What was happening was the amperage was spiking above what it should be, only for a short time. The fast acting fuses blew as soon as the spike occured. Maybe try that, hope it helps. Good luck!
is there any cuts or anything in the wire that goes directly to the alternator? Does that wire on top of the alternator still have the cover? Is it getting shorted out at the alternator? Did you try replacing the VSS? did you get coolant in the VSS?
this just happened to a friend of mine with an ITR, he had a test pipe on the car and where it positioned the wires for the 02 sensor made it rub against the chassis of the car(which eventually wore them through to bare wire). He was getting the same thing where all of his accesories started to freak out and he got a check engine light for the electrical load sensor which is part of the alternator. Turned out to be a blown fuse, so they replaced the fuse only to have it keep happeneing. They didnt realize at first but apparently the o2 shorting was on the same circuit and caused the fuse to blow again and again untill they realized it was the o2 causeing the problem. changed the o2, made sure it wouldnt rub the wires through anymore, and its been fine ever since.

YES IT CAN, you dont know the hell i went through to figure out that a arching or shorting in the 02 harness will do this. This would be where i start. I had two o2 wires exposed adn crossing. Blew my Alternator Speed Sensor fuse. Youll see the lights dim low to bright, and so forth. And then the fuse will blow. A shorting in the 02 caused it for me. SAme motor BTW, 96' d16y8
i recently had a high flow cat and the o2 is kinda touchin the chassis of the car. i think that mihgt be it. ill go check. thanks
i see two or three of these every day at the dealer where i work. if you look under the intake manifold you'll see the brace that runs from the intake to the block. there are two wire harness "dead plugs" there. what happens id the wiring rubs through on thes bracket and causes the grounds to short, it gives two (or four) O2 codes, speed sensor codes, and the alternator wont work either, and that can give power supply codes in the SRS. to repair remove the two dead plugs from the bracket, inspect, repair if required, and reseal (tape) the bare wires. do not put the plugs back on the bracket just wire-tie them up out of the way. replace the alt/sp fuse with the proper one and reset the ecu. all should be ok after that.
