Default Those of you with a 4 or 5 pt harness. Question on installing....

Those of you who have a 4 or 5 pt seat belt harness. I am installing a 4 pt harness into a 5th gen Civic coupe
How did you guys mount the inner side of the harness? Did you guys just put it on the rear inner seat bolt? Or drill/tapped a whole?

The rear two and the outer bolts are a no-brainer. Just stumped on this particular one for safety precautions.

Any help is appreciated. TIA

Personally, I drilled a hole and reinforced it on both sides with steel plate.

I drilled a hole in the tunnel (not threaded cause there isn't enough metal there) and then used 4 inch washers in each side, with a locknut(nylon insert) on a big eyebolt.

yeah, just drill and nut the bolt with a thick, big washer, even double the washer with a second smaller washer. another tip is to find the spot to drill AFTER youve installed the seat IN THE DRIVING POSITION. the point is to make sure the angle is correct so it passes thru the opening of the seat without getting bunched up.

im gonna say the same thing in here
you NEED A ROLLBAR
i dont even think you will pass tech at an autox if you run a harness without a rollbar.

You can pass just fine w/o a roll bar.

yea, u can pass at an autox w/o a rollbar as long as the harness is attached proplerly. no tape or zipties holding them on (seen it ) but for a track day it is recommended that u have roll protection. i had my harness in my car when i went to limerock but i didnt have the bar in yet, so i chose not to use it. but sometimes they ill let u use the harness. now that i have my autopower 4 point bar in i cant wait to use the harness at VIR in feb.

heh, floyd beat me to it
as shown in our site, i put the eyebolt through the center tunnel, with a 4x4 backing plate.

EDIT: apparently i can't spell a four letter word like "beat" without fux0ring up.

i replaced the bolt holding the seatbelt receiving end with an eyebolt, and clip the harness into it. this is the one you're talking about, right?

For mounting a 5pt harness, would it be OK if I put 3 eyebolts under the seat, each with 4in backing plates, in a triangular pattern?

Like so.

yep it is, I am actually installing a sparco milano seat, so that oem seat belt point is not there.

I just used the inner floor bolt for the 4 pt harness and the rest of the OEM bolt points.

thanks everyone for their input.
