Default R.I.P. 95 BB1

Let me first start off by saying that this may be long, but I need to vent so bare with me.

Last night I was with my friend in my car, heading home from a night out when we saw one of our other friends spun around facing traffic on the freeway. It was pretty wet out, but it was too warm for ice, so we're not really sure how she spun. Anyway, I went down the freeway to the next offramp and looped around to go and help get her car turned back around. This is downtown Detroit at 3 in the morning, so leaving her there was definetely out of the question. Her car was sitting on the lane divider for the offramp and the freeway, so I pulled over onto the shoulder about 2-3 car lengths ahead to leave room for anyone that didn't see us right away. My friend Tome and I got out of the car and he tells me to watch out when I was about 5-10 feet from the car heading over to push our friends car out of the road. I turned around to watch a 70s Suburban come chugging along at about 50mph on the shoulder and smash into my cars rear end. He hit the car so hard that it rolled about 40-50 feet from the impact spot leaving me speachless. I sat there 5 feet from my baby as she got owned by some POS American iron. We got on the phone and called the cops who suprisingly came fairly quick. They ended up arresting the guy for reasons unknown and searched his car. I took pictures today of the spot where I was hit and of the car at the salvage yard. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves....

This is where the Suburban came from... you can vaguely see his tires marks in the mud.

Some more tire tread from farther up.

Just some more showing how far he went on the shoulder.

The left edge of the pic is where my car was parked, you can see the glass in the middle and where the Tracker is sitting, is where my car stopped.

Someone already jacked my front emblem, it was stock anyway... Fawkin thieves

My new spoiler on the back glass!! JDM yo!!

Weight savings at its best!! Who needs a trunk anyway??

At least my wheels and tires are still good!!

Crumple zones!! YAY!!

Who needs a trunk popper??

So that's that.

Cliff Notes: Car got smashed, everyone was alright, idiot was arrested, and we went home.

That's a shame. At least no one was in (or in front of ) the car when it was struck.

Yeah, I would be pretty surprised if that car is not totalled by the adjuster... You could probably make out very well by buying back the wreck after they total it. The front is fine, so the swap would still be fine. You might be able to salavge the suspension and other aftermarket parts too.

i have a completely 4th gen with gray interior, its ugly, i was gonna get my front seats upholstered, use the bak seats as a couch in my room. So i would need the parts on the door, rugs, carpet, and anything else u can think of that u are sellin lemme know. Leather might work on the doors but i cant use leather seats cus i autocross

I've had two 4th gens now and have had nothing but bad luck with them, mainly experiences like this. I think I'm going to buy the car back from State Farm and part it out for another project, possibly a 6th gen Civic hatch. I just need to figure out how reliable that swap is. I'm searching, but any info would be greatly appreciated. Please send any info to my email. Thanks!

You think it is totalled?? I don't think it is but I could be wrong. It seems like fixing that won't be too hard. Rearends are easier to fix than front end damage. Less mechanical parts. All they will have to do is buy the rear trunk section and weld it on and paint it.
The car is still worth about $8K right?? I think they might end up fixing it.
Glad you are ok. Hope everything turns out well for you.

Booyaa! Duff Man, got bumper!

You live in Detroit? Nice I'll just come by and pick it up sometime. I'm only a few hours away.

That is a terrible coincidence...I mean how many people drive in the shoulder, AND you're parked at the side of the road? sheesh

i have a suggestion for ya... get an integra LS and drop in your H22 in there.
it will be faster, and it will still look nice.

Blah I agree. Civic is a big step down in exchange for speed...

Get an LS with a smashed up front or something and go with H22a and a JDM front end... yummy! I can look here in ontario...

looks like it is very likely totalled. The rear damage looks like it could be frame damage, if it is, it's totalled. Very sorry to hear/see this. Glad you're at least ok

i just had my last 95 vtec totalled last mid-August from a rearend collision. Dealing with that has been hell....time, pain, etc.

Sorry to hear about your car...you know of the times that I go up to Ann Arbor to visit my friends, I hate driving up there because when the freeway becomes 4 lanes, people drive like maniacs even on the slow lanes...I mean, I'm hauling *** too but some people are driving really carelessly...I hope they total your car since it looks like there's frame damange you wouldn't want it anyways. I hope you get something good out of this bowlshit.

Does anyone know how hard it is to buy your car back from the insurance company? If so, lets say they give me 8k for the car (lets hope for more!!) how much will they charge to buy it back?

It's up to them really..they will have a salvage value for it...and you can try to negotiate it
