Default Recall for 94-97

What recalls are on the years 94-97?? I understand that there is an oil leak for these years, is this true? Also, tell me any other recalls, thanks.

yep, it was the balancer shaft oil seal recall...they just install a clip over it to prevent the seal from backing out. the other one i can think of is the a/c recall where there was a problem with one of the a/c wires shorting out and might cause a fire. also, for 96 or 97 or newer accords, there was an ignition recall.

all of those are probably Technical Service Bulletins, not recalls. Unless you still have warranty (which is long gone for most), they arent required to cover the repairs for free. The Balancer shaft seal was the main recall, and the AC one i think is for 95's?

You better move fast. I've read that the "free repair" part of that recall is going to expire Jan 1, 2003.

I had mine done a couple months ago. Took about an hour at the dealer...wasn't major

Make sure you get the ignition coil fixed cause my wife was driving over some railroad tracks and the switch decided to cut off causing the car to die and lock the wheels. Lucky no train was coming my kids were in the car too . Had my attorney which is my daughters godfather call honda corporate in Cali and had him get everything paid for free buy honda and a verbal apology from someone in there. They also did the oil thing too.

Can I purchase the clip that they put on the balancer shaft seal and do it myself? The only reason I ask is cause I can't drive my car till I get it fixed and I don't know if I can get it into the dealer before the due date. Worst case scenario, what will it cost me to take it to the dealer once I have my car going again, assuming it's after Jan 1?

I did the balancer shaft oil seal recall on my H22a before I put it into my Accord (it applies to H22a's as well) Its very quick and easy to do while out of the car obviously. But even if its still in the bay, its very quick. It is worth the peace of mind. Have it done before Jan 1st.

I have had a '94 since new, and the only recall notice we have ever gotten is for the balancer shaft oil seal that has been described in this thread.

Put new timing belts on at about 191K and got the retainer then but the instructions with it were so damn small I couldn't see what bolt it was suppose to go on. I tried everyone I could find and nothing worked. Since the seal looked good and showed no signs of being unseated I put it all back together. BIG MISTAKE ! The seal popped out just past 193K. This time in the course of cleaning off the oil all over the motor I uncovered a bolt just outside the timing cover near the retaining bolt for the dipstick tube., THAT is where the retainer is attached. You have to pull the timing covers to get the retainer in there, it was almost as much trouble as doing the timing belts. Wish the instruction sheet had been printed so you didn't need a microscope to read it.

About those service bulletins, does anyone know how much it would cost to fix those problems, because 95% of those bulletins apply directly to my car.
