Acura Service really sucks!..........................Venting...
As some of you might recall that I had the dealer put in a new CV joint a few weeks back, anyway the CV joint is fine but the car is making some strange noises and they sound like they are coming from the Steering System.
Could in anyway the mechanic have fugged up my P/S system?
The sound is a groaning when at low speeds and turning the wheels from left to right or visa-versa, the fluid is fine and no signs of anything wrong. Also the steering has a tighter feel then before the Dealer laid their hands on the car.
If you have any tips on what to look for I would appreciate some help before I go and set an appointment with the dealer Again.
Here is the vent:
I am in complete awe of how poorly the dealer takes care of their customer. - regardless if they caused this problem.
So any ideas on what to look for ?
Thanks, Rob.

remember....when you drive off the dealer's lot..............your warranty was just voided
unless you know someone on the inside then you'll be ok

my car has that same exact problem right now. there is a belt whine at all times. when i turn the steering wheel in neutral or at low speeds you can hear this squeek noise. im not sure what the problem is...i rather fix it myself then take it to the dealer.
Well first off..you say dealers suck then talk about your trip to fix your axles. Then you leave and now your steering wheel whines. Then you say dealers treat their customers like crap even if they didnt cause the problem. Well then why are they crap if they didnt cause it? Did they do something else to you?
I think your problem is a notorious one for Integras. Theres a bulletin about it. Somewhere down the steering column theres some piece thats inclosed that keeps the bushings lubricated and after time it drys up I guess and causes that moaning sound whenever you turn the steering wheel. Its more noticeable in the winter time when the bushings harden I assume. Go to the dealer and tell them the symptoms and they should be able to take it from there. I would go downstairs and pull the bulletin up on the AcuraLink Computer...but im too lazy.
If thats not it..then please disregard what I wrote.

Rob...I think you should take that receipt and goto a different dealer and see if they can fix it better.
Rally Acura in Great Neck is one of the most luxurious dealer I've been to (yes, even BMW and MB) and also a Precision Team 2002. I am having my TL doing some warranty work there and I am very pleased with their services.
Call first if they will warrant your work.

i got the same problem with my gs-r. it just started happening recently and its pretty annoying. its not loud or anything, but it bothers me not knowing what is causing the sound. and since the acura dealer nearest to me is like 45 minutes ago its not really an easy trip around the block. school and work take up my time. so i'd like to try and find out and fix it myself.

I don’t think so. According to Alldata, these are the only TSB’s for the ’01 ITR:

Well, usually if a TSB still applies to a newer model year, they list it when you pull all TSBs for that model year. But... I suppose it's possible they didn't, at least not in this case.
It sounds like you're talking about TSB 96-055, "Steering Wheel - Squeaks When Turning", which appears in the list of 57 TSBs for a '96 GS-R.
Thanks for the follow-up note...
I could say a bunch of nasty stuff about acura service, At the dealers they are nice gusy for sure but the company service is the worst!!!
yeah, its the Bulletin 96-055 for 96-97 Integras, but I guess any of the Integras can need it.
Symptom: A squeak comes from steering column while turning the wheel.
Probable cause: Not enough grease between the pinion shaft and the grommet.
Corrective action: Apply DC111 between pinion shaft and grommet.
1. Remove steering joint cover
2. Use small screwdriver to insert the grease between the pinion shaft and the grommet.
3. Reinstall joint cover.
4. Turn steering wheel to verify that the squeak is gone.
Required materials: Dow Corning DC111
